Jacob Larson is a junior in Manufacturing Engineering at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND and is a new UI Fellow. Besides working as a machinist at the NDSU manufacturing lab doing anything from setting up tooling and preparing materials for lab classes to fabrication and design for graduate and professor projects he is involved in Bison Microveture, the campus’s bio-medical research group developing new products and techniques for replication of the human jaw. The team he worked with made it to the finals of the campus-wide Innovation Challenge this past winter. In addition, he owns and operates his own business, JSL Manufacturing, where he designs and fabricates high detail scale parts and completed scaled replicas of agricultural equipment. He took first place in his division at a competition this February in St. Louis.
