PROMOTING STUDENT INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
MITS always shows more interest on innovation and entrepreneurial environment and puts its hands first to develop such skills in the students. As part of this, a distinct office for INNOVATIVE ACTIVITIES has been established on 2nd November-2015 in the MITS campus, which creates a platform for students to express their ideas. Here the ideas will be groomed with the help of the faculty. In 2015, incubation center has also been established to provide some space to flourish the ideas. The innovative ideas of the students helps them to become successful entrepreneurs. Keeping this in vision Entrepreneurship Development Cell was established in the year 2010 which creates and foster entrepreneurial culture among students by identifying, training and motivating students to become entrepreneurs. ED cell and Innovation cell conducts various workshops and awareness programs. One among those activities is DIYA(Dynamics Ideas by Young Aspirants) which encourages the start-up ideas of students and also the excelled ideas are funded by reputed funding agencies. Apart from these, eminent personnel from industry(entrepreneurs), financial institutions(Banks), and academics will be invited to interact and to empower the knowledge in the concern fields that enrich the students how to start an entrepreneur at their own cost and procedures to be followed further. In addition to this, MITS conducts many competitions help students to showcase their innovative ideas.
Innovation club is initiated by the University Innovation Fellows of MITS to help the students to come up with innovative ideas that would help the society and make the world a better place. It is a platform for students where their ideas will ignite, innovate and incubate into products. The club hosts many events (such as project expo ), by which students find their interest and participate in them with enthusiasm, eventually helping the students to bring out the best in them and give the best product as output.
MITS is having a swift development in the participation of the students for whom particular organizations like DST-PRISM (Promoting Innovations in Individuals Startups and MSME), TBI (Technology Business Incubators) are providing funds to innovate and incubate ideas into products.
ENCOURAGING FACULTY INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
MITS is very keen at selecting faculty. Faculty at MITS not only endeavor innovative thoughts among students but also proposes many innovative projects, research proposals and MITS helps them to get funded for those proposals from various organization. The professors and assistant professors from various departments along with teaching students perform various research activities in their respective domains. In many cases they collaborate with the students to achieve excellent outcomes, which eventually leads to a start-up. Our college also organises many faculty development workshops and guest lectures.
SHARP (Student High Activity in Research Projects) is a platform for students, wherein faculty who are performing research in various fields engage students to guide and train them on the particular field to help students to gain required skills and knowledge on the field. Students get benefited dually through the research outcomes and the financial incentive of ₹1000 provided by the institution to those who are working with the faculty on research projects. This initiative helps students to participate in the research program and get expertise in the field of work through practise. It also motivates more faculties to take up research project on their field of interest and the students will assist the faculty, making the work easier and can do their research work in tight schedule.
ACTIVELY SUPPORTING THE UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER FUNCTION
Our college has TEwhich provides funds and transfers for students and faculty to complete their projects.It mainly concentrates on helping students financially like a backbone. Students need not worry about the funds and can purely concentrate on their respective projects which ultimately gives the desired outputs.Nextwe have TECHNICAL CLUB where everyone from different departments can collaborate easily in order to share and develop their technical skills.As a result everyone can get information about all the current technologies and can execute many projects.It also provides industrial exposure regarding latest trends in technology and can have a practical experience what it is actually about.
The Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme of Govt of India(TEQIP 2) conceived in pursuance of theNational Policy on Education(NPE)-1986 (as revised in 1992). The programme aims to upscale & support ongoing efforts of GOI to improve quality of technical education & enhance existing capacities of the institutions to become dynamic, demand-driven, quality conscious, efficient & forward looking, responsive to rapid economic & technological developments occurring both at national & international levels.
The broad objectives of the programme are to create an environment in which engineering institutions selected under the Programme can achieve their own set targets for excellence & sustain the same with autonomy & accountability, support development plans including synergistic networking & services to community & economy for achieving higher standards & to improve efficiency & effectiveness of the technical education management system. The effort would provide a flexible platform to well performing institutions to acquire excellence in specialised areas & emerge as world class institutions.
This program enables students to learn new technology or technical language and many other facilities are being provided by the government of Andhra Pradesh.The govt has provided a SCALE UP LAB in which all the workshops are held in.
FACILITATING UNIVERSITY-INDUSTRY COLLABORATION
MITS is successful in promoting the interaction of the industry and various departments of the institute, with the help of Industry-Institute Interaction Cell (IIIC). IIIC was established in MITS with an objective to explore and identify common avenues of interaction with industry as per the requirements of the institution.
It bridges the gap between industry and institute by initiating and coordinating industry based research. Industry Institute Partnership forms an important activity for any academic institute as its stakeholders interact with the real world. The students are benefited from the cell in the form of internships and industrial interactions. By going to internships students get a chance to explore new things. III cell in collaboration with ED cell conducted seminars on “ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND SELF-DEVELOPMENT” on 19th september 2017. It also conducted various workshops and awareness program such as”Industries Expectations from Engineering Students”.

MITS International Relations (IR) was started to encourage the students who are interested in doing internships or to pursue their higher studies in different international universities. This cell enables the students to work with the professors at deemed universities from various countries. The cell paves the path for students to study in countries like Taiwan, Germany, Japan and Canada by having MoU's and student exchange programs. IRC cell came with the vision of collaborating MITS with various international universities across the world. Recently MITS has a MoU with Ming Chi and Tai Chu universities in Taiwan. 5 students got an opportunity to work under the guidance of a professor in Asia University and successfully completed 4 months of internship and they were offered to pursue master's on electronics. By this way it creates global opportunities for students to pursue higher education.
ENGAGING WITH REGIONAL AND LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS
Along with Innovation & Entrepreneurship, MITS concentrates on community service oriented activities. As part of it, NSS(National Service Scheme) has been introduced in the year of 2003. The main objective of this scheme is education and service to the community and by the community. MITS under this cell has been participating in all societal activities. It helps the students to communicate with the society and also students often go the rural areas and try to develop a technocratic environment and help the underprivileged people to develop themselves. It adopts villages and the NSS volunteers undertake various activities in those villages which generally include eradication of illiteracy, watershed management and wasteland development, health nutrition and hygiene, campaign against social evils etc., We also have MITS Social Responsibility(MSR) club, which also looks over of all these activities under NSS
The Safer India Challenge is a 9 months long championship held annually, with the aim to reduce the death rate caused due to road accidents to half by 2020. It is an initiative of Indian Road Safety Campaign and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways held for colleges all across India.We are proud to say that our college has been contributing to this program since last year i.e. July, 2017. Every year, from our college, freshman students and senior students join to form a team and work on how to make the roads of India safer and to reduce the death rate caused by accidents. Some of the groups ideas are being converted to prototypes to test the product and implement them.
SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE
MITS-SDCis a set up to fulfill the growing needs for skilled manpower across IT and narrow the existing gap between the demand and supply of skills. Upgrading skills to international standards through substantial industry involvement and development frameworks. MSDC provides an opportunity for the career development of students.
Increasing demand for productive manpower for jobs triggered ourselves to engage in skill development sectors across the world.
OBJECTIVE:
It encourages students to strengthen students with the scope of Technical Skills by providing a series of training programs. Precisely, the Scheme aims to:
- Boost productivity and employability of youth by providing training on updated technologies.
- Encourage standardization and initiate a process of creating a registry of skills.
- Impart training through Industry & Academia experts in close interaction to produce employable graduates readily.
- Empower students living in rural areas so as to bridge the urban-rural divide
- Develop and deploy e-Governance applications in a cost-effective manner
SDC STRATEGIC POLICY(50-30-20) rule:
- 50%of your development should come from on-the-job activities and action learning. This can include development experiences like managing a project, serving on a cross-functional team, taking on a new task, job shadowing, job rotation, etc.
- 30%of your development should come from interactions with others. This includes having a mentor, being a mentor, coaching, participating in communities of practice, serving as a leader in a staff organization, etc.
- 20%of your development should come from training.
CENTER OF EXCELLENCE IN ROBOTICS - EMBEDDED SYSTEMS AND ROBOTICS LAB
MITS takes the opportunity to Improve Technical knowledge of the students. In proving this MITS has a robotics space through which the Technical skills of students are enhanced. It uses a Project-Based Learning (PBL)approach to impart- knowledge of concepts in Embedded systems and Roboticsreal-world problem-solving skills
- hands-on learning.
Robotics is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering and science that includes mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, information engineering, computer science, and others. Robotics deals with the design, construction, operation, and use of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing. These technologies are used to develop machines that can substitute for humans and replicate human actions. Robots can be used in many situations and for lots of purposes. By learning all these students who are enthusiastic can enrich their skills.

9.AERO-MECHATRONICS:
MITS takes the opportunity to develop the skills of students in multidisciplinary streams and to dig out the hidden potentials of students apart from academics. The main motto is to enhance all students to participate actively in their passionate club under MITS society.
Aeromechatronicsis a combination of mechanical, electrical and software engineering. The purpose of this multidisciplinary engineering field is the study of automata from an engineering perspective and serves the purposes of controlling advanced hybrid systems. It helps students in creating a design solution that unifies each of the electrical, mechanical work and they get an idea of how to control a system. This thinking and coordination process is to imbibe in all students and work efficiently in every aspect to innovate new trends in mechanics.
ACTIVITIES
- Aero Design Studentscan envision themselves in class using drones to learn high-tech jobs and handling real-life challenges with drone technology. Drones can be used to help enhance orientation skills, motor skills, and even give students a better understanding of how the world around us works. Contrary to the belief that such technology can be distracting for students, in fact, enrich their imagination and get them more involved in the learning process. Drones will awake the students’natural curiosity and take it to the next level.
