My name is Dave Long and I am a mechanical engineering student at the University of Alabama Birmingham.

I am a man of diverse life experience for someone my age. At seventeen I attended military school and got certified as a police diver and an EMT. I've taken two separate trips to rural Nicaragua to improve the lives of the residents there through building infrastructure. In April of 2013 I was honored to be accepted as a trainee to the National Academy of Police Diving in Miami, FL. I learned important skills for operating clandestine tactical operations in urban environments. At school I am an officer in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers UAB chapter.
