Fellow:Nate Peterson
Hello!
My name is Nate Peterson, and I am currently a student at Michigan Technolgical University studing Materials Science and Engineering.
I currently serve as the Undergraduate Student Government President here at Michigan Tech and have the privledge of working with students to help them be the best they can be whether it is through funding for student organizations, or finding resources, or advocating for student concerns to the administration and faculty. I'm also a proud brother at Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and have served on the Interfraternity Council.
I've always had a passion for education and students as a whole, which I think I get from my mom who is high school math teacher. I plan on returning to higher education someday as a professor or in an administrative capacity. Getting involved with the campus has really helped me to see the potential in higher education and the possibilites we can reach. One of the most impactful experiences I've had here at Tech was participating in the LeaderShape institute, which helped me to form my vision for higher ed and inspired me to join this movement.
When I'm not on campus at school, you can probably find me somewhere out in the beautiful Keweenaw! I love to go mountain biking, hiking, swimming and just in general exploring. I'm kinda a history buff, so I've visited many of the historical sites in the area from the copper mining boom days which made the area famous back in the late 1800's.
