Bio

Freddy Ñañez, whose journey began in Ica, Peru, spent his formative childhood and early adolescent years in Pilpichaca, a humble village nestled within Huancavelica, one of the nation's most economically challenged regions. His mother, a nurse, was assigned to work there, and Freddy learned the value of effort and work by helping her manage their small store. This early experience instilled in him lessons about management, responsibility, and customer service from a young age, shaping him into a leader marked by resilience and an early passion for entrepreneurship.

In 2nd grade, he earned a $20,000 scholarship to study at a High Academic Performance School, standing out among all the students in his region to gain admission. Currently, Freddy is a 19-year-old Business Management student at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (the top university in the country), where he is recognized for his strong academic performance, ranking among the top 5% of his faculty. In addition to his studies, he works at the BCP Innovation Center (the largest bank in Peru) and actively participates in high-impact entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems such as Hult Prize, Makers Fellowship, and START Lima. Notably, he was admitted to Makers Fellowship at the age of 18, becoming the youngest Peruvian to join this program dedicated to fostering future leaders in the technology industry.

During his time at the Colegio de Alto Rendimiento Académico (COAR), Freddy was a beneficiary of a full scholarship from the Peruvian State, valued at over $20,000 USD. He also graduated within the top tenth of his promotion and received his education under the rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) modality.

At the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), Freddy is among the top 5% of his faculty, recognized for his outstanding academic performance. He also received an award during the "Excellence Week," an event that celebrates the best academic projects developed in collaboration with real companies.

Freddy was the youngest Peruvian, at 18 years old, to be admitted into the prestigious Makers Fellowship program, which has an acceptance rate of 1%.

In terms of project leadership, Freddy organized a Hackathon in partnership with UTEC Ventures. This event led to two winning teams traveling to Switzerland to represent Peru in a global competition. He directed the "Road To START Fellowship," a pre-acceleration program for the START Fellowship, which has successfully engaged over 300 participants from the nine leading universities in Peru and has established strategic alliances with each of these institutions.

He is an open innovation intern at BCP, working on hands-on projects for the bank that aim to increase millions of revenue for the bank.
