Jaime Arribas Starkey-El is currently a senior honor student at Morgan State University. He is an Engineering Physics major with a cumulative GPA of 3.97. He is currently the president of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) at MSU. Jaime is also a very active member and e-board member of the NSCS and Golden Key honor societies. He is also a new member of the defending national champion Honda All-Star college bowl team at MSU. Last year Jaime spent a significant amount of time doing Physics research in the Dixon lab at Morgan State, assisting in the development of novel magnetic metal oxide thin films for magnetic device applications. Last summer, Jaime took part in a 10-week internship at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center working with the Next Generation X-Ray Optics (NGXO) technology development project. During the internship, Jaime created a bonding test to measure the static force behavior of epoxy bonds in satellite modules in order to determine optics distortion. He also wrote a detailed primer to the NGXO project for future members of the project. As a result of his diligent work, Jaime had his internship extended for an additional two weeks and was nominated as a NASA student ambassador.
