Strategy 1: Advocate the Adoption of Open Educational Resources
College students and financial burden have gone hand-in-hand for as long as adults have had acess to higher education. For years, we have instilled and perpetuated the idea that students need to go to college in order to be successful. That being said, students are also expected to pay for an education with money they simply do not have. There are many factors that contribute to the financial burden of students, and many of these factors are not easy to change. However, there is one particular facet that we can change and that we can change simply and easily: textbooks.
- Tactic 1: Pool together a reposity of acceptable free online textbooks that match with currently existing courses.
MIT in particular has a large repository of of 15 majors and their susequent courses that are completely open source.
