My prototype was targeted at spreading the I&E mindset to students who might not be exposed to it regularly. On our campus, unless you are in majors like engineering or business or are taking the I&E minor, you most likely will not take classes related to I&E. Or those that develop design thinking in general for that matter. I prototyped pop-up classes as a potential way to spread I&E on campus and reach students of various different disciplines. My thought process behind these pop-up classes is that they will teach subjects that students are interested in learning about in an interactive way. I would also like incorporate design thinking into these classes through prototype projects that are linked to the whatever the subject is.

When I was first brainstorming ideas, I was more focused on academic sub-subjects that people might want to learn more about but can’t necessarily take a whole class on. From the responses I got though, these students seem to be more interested in more everyday life lessons such as “how to cook”, “how to date”, and “Empathy 101”. From this I think that for this project to be successful, it will need to be relevant to a large number of people and not just in an academic setting but in life in general.
