The '''National Skill Development Agency''' ('''NSDA''') is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, which coordinates and harmonizes the skill development efforts of the Indian government and the private sector to achieve the skilling targets of the 12th Plan document and beyond. The NSDA plays a pivotal role in bridging the social, regional, gender and economic divide by ensuring that the skilling needs of the disadvantaged and marginalized groups like SCs, STs, OBCs, minorities, women and differently capable persons are taken care of through the various skill development programmers and also by taking affirmative actions as part of advocacy. The Central Ministries and NSDC continue to implement schemes in their remit. The NSDA's role is also to anchor the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and facilitate the setting up of professional certifying bodies in addition to the existing ones. The NSDA came into existence on 6 June 2013 through a gazette notification. It subsumed the Prime Minister’s National Council on Skill Development (PMNCSD).

   Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood. Individuals with prior learning experience or skills will also be assessed and certified under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Under this Scheme, Training and Assessment fees are completely paid by the Government.

SANKALP is an outcome oriented project supported by World Bank. The project will focus on the overall skilling ecosystem covering both Central (MSDE, NSDA and NSDC) and State agencies, and outcomes will be measured through Disbursement Linked Indicators (DLIs) agreed between MSDE and the Bank. A DLI verification protocol has also been established to measure DLIs on a periodic basis.

Udaan is a Special Industry Initiative for Jammu & Kashmir in the nature of partnership between the corporate of India and Ministry of Home Affairs and implemented by National Skill Development Corporation. The program aims to provide skills training and enhance the employability of unemployed youth of J&K. The Scheme covers graduates, post graduates and three year engineering diploma holders. It has two objectives:

(ii) To provide Corporate India, an exposure to the rich talent pool available in the State.

 The National Skill Certification and Monetary Reward Scheme, known as STAR (Standard Training Assessment and Reward),was operational between August 2013 and September 2014.

NSDC is the designated implementing agency of the scheme and is working through various Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), Training Providers (TPs) and independent Assessment Agencies (AAs).

As NSDA keeps check on the major schemes about the set standards, it has achieved remarkable impacts:

4.    Skill Development Management System (SDMS) with 1400 training partners, 28179 training centres, 16479 trainers, 20 Job portals, 77 assessment agencies and 4983 empanelled assessors. Hosting infrastructure certified by ISO 20000/27000 supported by dedicated personnel.

This resource can be deployed by taking into consideration what is the current need of the industry. As industries are now a days getting automated so the centres dedicated for automation can be selected by the college administration and in collaboration with NSDA opportunities can be provided to the students. By taking NSDA into the picture the funds can be generated for the subsidised courses and training for the students.

As we are well aware of the various courses provided by this agency and also it aims to synergize skill initiatives in the country, a college can moreover plan to startup some activities of NSDA.
