Website URL: [http://ewb.berkeley.edu/ http://ewb.berkeley.edu/]
Description:
EWB-UC Berkeley works under EWB-National. Within EWB-UC Berkeley there exists the Peru Team and the Executive Office. The Executive Office handles executive responsibilities such as financial issues and the Peru Team handles the project. Within the Peru Team itself exist "component" teams such as Coagulation. These teams do not compete against each other but instead work together to meet the goals of the respective communities we are working with. Powerpoint that was presented at the general meeting that gives some details about the organization and project:

Current Projects:
'''Peru Team''':
Rainwater: In charge of researching and designing systems that catch water in order to provide for large amounts of community members.
Coagulation: In charge of researching and designing coagulation systems that uses a simple iron matrix to separate arsenic in the water to levels safe to consume.
Education: Designs education materials for adults and children relating to our project, organization, health and is the backbone of how EWB communicates with the communities involved.
Translation: This team serves under education and is in charge of translating documents and education materials to the native language of the community (Spanish Speakers are desired)
Tres Vasijas (Filter): In charge of designing filters to filter water with high amounts of arsenic while at the same time build a filter that is small enough to fit in individual homes in the community.
'''Exec Office''':
We currently need help in fundraising, web design and other tasks so feel free to ask how you can help!

Design for America (DFA)
Website URL: [http://designforamerica.com/ http://designforamerica.com/]
Description:
Design for America (DFA) is an award-winning nationwide network of interdisciplinary student teams and community members using design to create local and social impact. We teach human centered design to young adults and collaborating community partners through extra-curricular, university based, student led design studios tackling national challenges in Education, Health, Economy and Environment. Founded at Northwestern University in 2009 they now have studios all over the country within universities such as Stanford, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Yale and more with over 2,000 students in our network and 350 core team members. DFA is a pipeline of innovators, change makers, and social entrepreneurs. This year, two of their start-ups SwipeSense and Jerry the Bear have gone on to raise nearly $1.5 million in start-up capital, with more projects in the pipeline ready to make an impact. DFA, their students, and projects have been featured in publications such as the cover of Fast Company, Oprah Magazine, Inc Magazine, Forbes, the Chicago Tribune, Harvard Business Review and more.
DFA student teams work on 2-3 self-selected design projects throughout the academic year applying the skills and expertise gained through their for-credit academic courses. They look to their local community to assess pressing challenges and work in teams with organizational partners to understand user’s needs, ideate, prototype and test potential solutions. Projects that receive validation from their partners, users and mentors are encouraged to continue into implementation. DFA students must be fearless in moving forward on a good idea and fearless enough to take a step back when they may need to go back to the drawing board. DFAers represent diverse academic fields such as engineering, design, psychology, and economics. DFA believes that all students have the capacity to use design to innovate the world around them and DFA is a platform to do so.

ReUSE
Website URL: [http://reuse.berkeley.edu/ http://reuse.berkeley.edu/]
Mission: To promote the concept and ethic of reuse to the campus population and to divert reusable materials from landfills.
Description:
*Why: Reuse saves money and resources on labor, freight, and reprocessing and is thus environmentally preferable to recycling. Since UC Berkeley is seeking to reduce its waste stream into landfills, it must employ the diversion technique of reuse, which has been highly underutilized on this campus in the past.
*The Goal: ReUSE seeks to divert 20-30 tons of material annually, as this amount was identified as reusable in campus waste audits.
*Who: ReUSE serves the UC Berkeley campus community including students, staff, and faculty and is a subset of the Campus Recycling and Refuse Services. Current Projects: *???
