In her free time LaRissa free-lances in photography, design, and writing. LaRissa is a founding member of Shocker Startup and currently serves as Vice President. She is active in the entrepreneurship and communications communities in Wichita, she is also a member of Wichita Women Who Code and Wichita Professional Communicators.Throughout her college career she has been interested in how to bring together diverse groups of students. Something that she’s seen through her previous work in journalism. LaRissa learned about University Innovation Fellows when she co-founded Shocker Startup with Wesley Alexis and Hannah Hund. UIF has given her to opportunity to explore how innovation and entrepreneurship can empower her fellow students. LaRissa has a passion for the intersection of storytelling and technology. That passion is one of the primary drivers of her work to introduce interdisciplinary studies to Wichita State.Her goals for after graduation are to work at a startup in a marketing and communications position. LaRissa Lawrie is a Strategic Communications student at Wichita State University. She was born and raised in Wichita Kansas.
