Sandeep Murthy, who also goes by Sunny, is a University Innovation Fellow Candidate and Undergraduate at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. He is currently majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Chemistry.
Sunny's science background includes several research projects consisting of analyzing protein-protein interactions to increase crop yield, stroke mortality rates as part of a summer program at Yale School of Medicine, and the potential use of thermoacoustic engines in nuclear reactors. He has discovered a passion for entrepreneurship as well and founded a marketing consulting company. On the side, Sunny is a well-known menswear influencer, GQ insider, and HP Millennial Influencer.
Sunny's five-year plan includes attending a dual degree MD/MBA program, launching a small-scale tech startup, and continuing to make opportunities to live life to its fullest.
He believes the University Innovation Fellow program will allow the VT team to create a more inclusive community that focuses on multidisciplinary practice and experiential learning. Sunny is eager to give back to the university that has given him so much.
