Currently, she’s a senior in She has recently graduated from Energy Engineering at Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC) and is interested in energy generation, more specifically, solar energy and currently a research assistant at the improvement of same university; her research interests include nanomaterials for energy generation devices and storage devicesgreen chemistry. Danae has great social responsibility, skills for facing challenges and affinity for working in different intercultural and interdisciplinary groups. She speaks spanish Spanish as first language, english English, German and germana little bit of Quechua (native language from Peru).</p><p style="text-align: justify;">As young, During her undergraduate studies she was selected to be part of an exchange to Germany. At Villa Caritas school, she won the ICTYS price for a project about the implementation of solar panels participated in Villa Caritas schoolmultiple engineering projects and research internships abroad. Danae graduated from school in 2014, being one One of the first two students at Villa Caritas with main projects she was involved in was the IGCSE certification. At University, she worked on a project about evaluation of the possibility use of using recycled snack bags in Scheffler reflectors for solar cookers in Andean regions. With this project, she won the internal project fair “Vivir la Ingeniería” UTEC 2015-2 in the category of development/product, and the third place in the Expo Energy Efficiency Award of Led Expo Peru in 2016. Se has been in Germany doing research Through Research Experience for Peruvian Undergraduates (REPU) Program she was able to work on heterogeneous heterogenous catalysis for CO oxidation at Ruhr Universität Bochumin Germany. Later on, she won the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) Scholarship, through which she did a fourth-month internship at University of Alberta, where she worked in metamaterials for biomedical applications. She worked on silver-based catalysts for cathodes of flexible metal-air batteries for her bachelor’s thesis. This experiences have though her many lessons, among them two stand up: (1) working with people from different academic and cultural backgrounds enrich the results of a teamwork and (2) to listen, for you can learn anything from everyone.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Danae is characterized by a passionate dedication to her ideals and the development of STEM training and outreach in her University or organization she is part country, as well as adaptation of technology to enhanced the life ofnative communities in Peru and the region. This is reflected on the many activities organizations she has donebeen part of. For exampleIn 2016, she was co-founder of the Affinity Group chairman of Women in Engineering in the Student Branch IEEE-UTEC and is currently chairman of the Student Branch. As chairman, where she and the board of directors of IEEE-UTEC has worked on many diverse activities (more than twenty), giving the student chapter Power and Energy Society the first place in Exit Case Award in the region. AlsoFor three years, she is part of was a community in Nuestra Señora de la Reconciliación Church, where she has been part of the board member of the volunteering “Pan para mi Hermano” , a volunteer program which gave food and essentials for low-income people in Lima. During her undergraduate studies, she helped in the person organization of many I&E workshops in charge of and outside UTEC. Among them, she organized along with the food’s transportation NGO “Cruz Blanca” and distributiona student organization a volunteer work to build and further re-design improved stoves. Nowadays , she is involved working along with other fellows to bring more I&E workshops in the creation of more volunteer programscomplex context in which we are living.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">As part of In the University Innovation Fellows training programother hand, she has been involved in STEM initiatives and has served as mentor for freshman at UTEC. She is collaborating with a group currently leading the REPU Communication Team, helping in the selection process of students at UTEC on the developing branch nanoREPU for future Peruvian STEM undergraduates to have research internships opportunities abroad in nanotechnology, and exploring new branches that attends the needs of nowadays professionals in Peru. Recently, she has joined some friends to create “Ciencia Papaya”, a 5YouTube channel that aims to give Peruvian and Latino-year program for encouraging innovation Americans scientists a space to explain their work on simple words and entrepreneurship among the in a fun way to inspire young students, aligned interested in pursuing STEM fields.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">She is looking forward to applying to grad-school in materials science and engineering to work on the new study plan development of nanomaterials for 2017. The boards of directors energy devices and help in the University are really interested in implementing it for appropriation of different technologies by low-income communities. Meanwhile, she will continue to work on the next years development of STEM and are currently I&E in conversations with themher region.</p>
