[[File:BradTurner.png|thumb|BradTurner.png]]Brad Turner is a second-year software engineering student at Michigan Technological University, and currently works part-time as a graphic designer for Student Activities, Housing, and Residential Life at the University. After serving as a councilor at a summer youth leadership camp, he realized his passions lie in working with students and plans on applying to graduate school for student affairs and development after graduating in 2017. He spent this last summer away from his hometown, Bay City, MI, to experience a season without snow in Houghton, MI doing graphic design work and preparing to serve as the Marketing Chair for the student programming board, as well as the Vice President of Communications for the Honors Institute. He also spent time preparing to help develop incoming students as an Orientation Team Leader as well as a teaching assistant for a leadership class for the Fall 2014 semester.

Last year, as a first-year student on campus, he became involved in many different activities and made a much larger impact on campus than he ever would have imagined. He developed marketing campaigns for on campus events, attended the Leadershape Conference in January, and was quickly elected for executive positions in multiple student groups. As a result, these groups have seen increased event attendance, positive brand recognition and a greater sense of community within their members. Off of campus he spent time working with start-up companies to develop application mock-ups and work flows to push them into various prototyping stages.

When not working, Brad spends his time outdoors. Depending on the season, he can be found kicking a soccer ball around with some friends or carving down the slopes of Mont Ripley on his skis. He also enjoys capturing the beauty of the world around him through photography, and spends the not-so-nice days inside editing and uploading those photos to share with the rest of the world. Brad Turner studied Software Engineering at Michigan Technological University and graduated in Spring 2017, and is now a Product Designer at a startup called Handshake, working to democratize opportunity for college students and recent alumni.

Starting as a University Innovation Fellow in Fall 2014, he discovered a way to combine his love of giving back to the community, with creativity and design. On campus he has worked on creating a student organization that is focused on creating agents of change by using creativity and design thinking, helped launch a new makerspace, and planned and facilitated events on campus with the Innovation Center for Entrepreneurship.

His experiences as a summer leadership camp counselor and Orientation Team Leader have expanded his passion for working with students and creating meaningful activities and events. These events include, but are not limited to, #uifresh activities during orientation, a makerspace design thinking session, and many smaller in-class workshops.

Outside of Michigan Tech he has worked at Epic as a Software Engineering Intern and spent a summer at Handshake as a Product Design Intern working on democratizing career opportunities for current college students and recent graduates.

Now in San Francisco working at Handshake, you can find him running around and exploring the Bay Area, trying to navigate a quickly scaling startup, and remembering to take the time to slow down and take breaks.
