The 5 Chairs rapid prototyping activity is from Stanford's d school. The activity involves prototyping a chair in 5 (eventually 6) different formats including paper (drawing), cardboard (cutting), flexible pipe cleaners (bending), Play-doh (molding), toothpicks and chewing gum (assemblying) and eventually post it notes. Each construction has to be created in intervals less than 7 minutes. The goal is to discover the affordances and constrains to using each format.
