Emma is a junior at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL studying Physiology with minors in Chemistry and American Sign Language. After college, Emma hopes to pursue a MD/MBA program and work in international medical relief efforts. On campus, she served as president of the SIU United Nations Association and Founding Executive Member of SIU Timmy Global Health, a branch of a national non-profit. Emma spends her days studying CRISPR gene editing techniques as a Biochemistry research assistant, volunteering at the Alzheimer's Association, and working as a tutor. Emma joined the University Innovation Fellows program in hopes of improving SIU's campus climate and access to student opportunities. As a strong advocate for education, Emma serves as SIU's representative to the Illinois Board of Higher Education where she collaborates with other University leaders to improve the quality and experience of public and private higher-ed institutions across Illinois. In her free time, Emma loves travelling, making new friends, hiking, skiing, reading, and playing pranks on her friends.
