| − | <span style="font-size:larger;">'''Caroline Best'''</span> is sophomore majoring in civil engineering and minoring in mathematical sciences at Western New England University ([http://www1.wne.edu/ WNEU]). Growing up, Caroline enjoyed everything from Tinkertoys to Lincoln Logs to Legos and K'NEX. This sparked her interest in engineering and motivated her to take pre-engineering classes in high school, which is where she decided on civil engineering. In high school she also participated in a Career Exploration Internship Program which led to a paid internship the following summer.

| − | On campus Caroline is involved many organizations, such as Society of Women Engineers (SWE), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Entrepreneurship Club, and multiple honor societies. This past year, she devoted herself to planning activities for her school as the secretary for her college's Campus Activities Board (CAB). Caroline is a First Year Seminar Assistant where she helps first year students transition academically and is responsible for grading assignments. Also related to the first year program, Caroline is a Women in STEM Peer Tutor for one of the freshmen residence halls.

| − | At WNEU, Caroline is currently participating in all three of the honors and scholar programs offered through the College of Engineering. As part of the honors program, she worked with business students to complete an engineering design project in the spring semester of her freshman year. This project gained her first place at her school's freshman innovation showcase. This past summer, she traveled to China for a month to study abroad as part of the Global Scholars Program. She studied alongside the Chinese students and learned a lot about the differences in their culture, and the history of some of their famous landmarks. Lastly, she's a part of the Grand Challenges Scholar Program, which strives to prepare "engineers to be innovators for change in an increasingly globalized society."
