Murad Abduselam is a Software Engineer at Google Cloud in New York, specializing in large-scale distributed systems, sovereign cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and Go.

He graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. During his undergraduate career, Murad was named a University Innovation Fellow by Stanford University’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school) as part of the Spring 2017 cohort.

Leadership & Campus Involvement

While at the University of St. Thomas, Murad served in numerous leadership and academic roles:

  • Vice President, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
  • Teaching Assistant, Microprocessor Architecture (School of Engineering)
  • Research Scholar, Excel! Research Scholars Program (focused on machine vision for autonomous vehicle navigation)

Community & Mentorship

Passionate about education, technology access, and social equity, Murad has dedicated time to community mentorship through:

  • Teaching web development (HTML/CSS) to high school students with the BDPA Twin Cities Foundation.
  • Mentoring youth in STEM programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities.
