The app won first place in the Verizon Innovative App Challenge. He loves using video as a communication tool and has produced videos for countless events, nonprofits, ventures, businesses and local film festivals. He spent his past summer as an intern at Pixability, a Series-0OpmD_utf7XNC startup out of Boston's North End which is applying big data technology to the world of digital media. On campus, Derek is helping to found the WPI Test Kitchen, an incubator which aims to connects students to faculty and alumni and provide them with the resources needed to take their ideas to the next level. Beginning in March, he will spend 5 months studying abroad in Germany at the Konstanz University of Applied Sciences. In his spare time, Derek is an avid outdoor adventurer.
