Brad Turner studied Software Engineering at Michigan Technological University and graduated in Spring 2017, and is now a Product Designer at a startup called Handshake, working to democratize opportunity for college students and recent alumni.

Starting as a University Innovation Fellow in Fall 2014, he discovered a way to combine his love of giving back to the community, with creativity and design. On campus he has worked on creating a student organization that is focused on creating agents of change by using creativity and design thinking, helped launch a new makerspace, and planned and facilitated events on campus with the Innovation Center for Entrepreneurship.

His experiences as a summer leadership camp counselor and Orientation Team Leader have expanded his passion for working with students and creating meaningful activities and events. These events include, but are not limited to, #uifresh activities during orientation, a makerspace design thinking session, and many smaller in-class workshops.

Outside of Michigan Tech he has worked at Epic as a Software Engineering Intern and spent a summer at Handshake as a Product Design Intern working on democratizing career opportunities for current college students and recent graduates.

Now in San Francisco working at Handshake, you can find him running around and exploring the Bay Area, trying to navigate a quickly scaling startup, and remembering to take the time to slow down and take breaks.
