Mitchell Merz from Wauwatosa, Wi is a Fall 2018 University Innovation Fellow. He is a fifth year undergraduate student studying Mechanical Engineering and Biology. He has been co-oping for the year two years at Strattec Security Corporation doing test, manufacturing, product and R&D engineering.
Mitchell always tries to do as much as he can to improve himself and the others around him. Right now he is working on a new startup around automated carts. In 2017, he co-ran and co-founded a non-profit based around connecting local charities, local artists, and local venues. Here he learned a lot of valuable experience on working with a team, leadership, and communication.
At University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, he has been working on redesigning a thinker space that has been underutilized on campus with his fellow UIF’s. It will be a bridge to our new makerspace that has been under construction for the last few months. He is also outlining new projects through UIF training based around improving academic clubs, university legal clinic, I&E education, and I&E diversity.
When he is not busy he likes to work on DIY projects like small electronics, programming, or making a board game. He also enjoys going out and adventuring by hiking, running, or walking around the city.
