Design for America is an organization that is based on the idea that people cannot innovate be innovated without believing in themselves. This principle defines their motivation behind working Working on a national level to build a network of students who actively consistently create an impact at the local level through team-based projects. The main goal of Design for America's goal is to create generate a network of students working who actively work to solve social problems and make a significant an impact in their respective communities. Student teams survey their local community in In order to assess its challenges and complete all the steps in the design process from ideation creating ideas to viable feasible product development, student teams must survey their local communities. Teams of 2 to 3 students will then set out to create solutions based on the challenges identified. <span style="font-size: 12px">Student teams are either a part of a studio or independently run by students on campuses nationwide. </span><span style="font-size: 12px">Design for America believes that every student has the ability drive to make an impact, and through design innovation, students can to solve problems in the world around them. </span>
Co-founder Dr. Liz Gerber has researched conducted research for new ways of learning about human centered design called Extracurricular Design-Based Learning. This method system engages students, and community members and partners to think about our the biggest challenges that we face in the world through education, health, economy , and environment. The best words to summarize vision of this organization's vision is motivation informed by the create belief that one can be motivated in our abilityto make change. Design for America holds the idea strongly believes that we must believe in and challenge our ability to develop generate innovative solutions that can address addresses the world's world’s challenges by implementing applying extracurricular design-based learning.
