Overview
Dorm Room Fund is an organization which consists of a small committee of students in the New York, Bay Area, Boston and Philadelphia campuses. Each of these groups has available five hundred thousand dollars which they can invest in student venture ideas in order to bring their ideas from the "dorm to the market". Student venture capitalists can fill out an application on the website and a video pitch can be attached. The website stresses the importance of two main components in a proposal. The first thing they look for is a plan for how the company plans to grow in either capital or users quickly and effectively. The second thing the investors look for is where the ideas are coming from and if they have faith in the success of the people they are investing in. From there the student investors decide where the best place to invest their money would be and make investments of about twenty thousand to allow the company to start up in exchange for a stake in the companies.
