Project One: Increase awareness of I&E Minor, Certificate, NOVA Fellowship

1. Get advice and buy-in from Arts & Sciences faculty and students
2. Stencil campaign
3. Flyers
4. Classroom visits
5. Activities Fair in August  
6. Ask interested faculty to promote I&E thinking into coursework
   1. Five minute ‘brain power’ warmups before class to get the gears running and ease into the challenges to be introduced during class
   2. Cooperate/collaborate with NOVA Fellowship, UIF students

Project Two: Create innovative spaces outside of business school

1. Pop-up workshops in engineering classes-especially the intro courses (Chem, electrical, mechanical, petroleum)
2. Invite local innovative businesses-36 degrees North, FabLab Tulsa to help design this space in Keplinger or the student union, a central location for all students
3. Since Studio Blue already exists, find a way to use the space more effectively
   1. Host student government (SA) events
   2. Movie nights
   3. Guest speakers
   4. Private “tours” given to students outside of business school

Project Three: Engaging Tulsa startups

1. Reps from Tulsa startups to visit TU
   1. Williams, Phillips 66, Enterprise make frequent TU visits
   2. Startup visits as well (find alum in it)
   3. Usually a quick lunch-time visit, easy for students to attend
   4. Free stuff
   5. Tours, field trips, gadgets
   6. Networking opportunities—unlikely collaborations from chance encounters

Project Four: Encouraging I&E for graduate students

1. It's been found that graduate students have tech skills, but no communication skills
2. The opportunity to apply design thinking into careers has not been lost
3. Talk to the I&E faculty about implementing a graduate school option
4. Self-study option
5. Continuation of the Governor's Cup
6. Is there an interest for grad students to get involved with I&E?

Project Five: Developing undergrad I&E in courses separate from the Minor

Begin Project Spring of 2018 Fall 2018.

1. Train UIF students, other interested in Design Thinking, creativity methodologies to spread to other students.
2. Begin with one hour course-Intro to I&E 1001, UIFers design the course
3. Incorporate original ‘training’ material-TED Talks, mini challenges, interviews to gain perspective about campus ecosystem
4. Take advantage of faculty members’ input on a potential course-how would they answer questions such as:
   1. What is innovation to you?
   2. How can students excel with a design thinking mindset?
   3. Where are the weak spots in the world of education? Where are the strengths?
   4. How does cultivating an I&E environment become tangible at TU?
5. Learn to develop more complex curriculum- offer a permanent course for all majors available for all undergraduate students
   1. Allow this course to appear on the course catalog for all schools, offering it in the summer term as well

Potential Project: NOVA Students

A. Assist NOVA(an innovation program for all studies) students with their individual projects

Help to brainstorm/prototype

Introduce design thinking to jumpstart ideas

Be sure to not intrude on pre-existing work, but enhance it

Delegate really small jobs to each member

Collaborate between projects

B. Deadline is mostly year-round

Assist current NOVA students

If helping student, follow their personal agendas to keep on track

Get acquainted with new members

On campus//off campus events to promote the group and find fellow innovators

C. Provide UIF insight

Prototype to learn flexibility, not a standard

Perspective is important..don't lose sight of other’s sights

Look at the big picture

Give workshop to NOVA students-food, prizes, challenges

D.  Encourage NOVA friends to apply for UIF

October 30 for Spring 2018 session

They have a good understanding of innovation-training can only improve this mindset

Potential Project: Oklahoma Young Entrepreneur Awards

1. Second year of operation

1. Headed by Dallas Elleman and communications handled by Caroline Rodgers
2. Looking to expand, by way of more high schools or introduce to TU

B. November 30-deadline for teams to apply

$50 fee waived, gives all teams a FREE opportunity to participate

C. Introduce OYEA to TU

Allow teams to give a pecha kucha presentation

Can be presented on ideas previously used in a course

Potential to form teams comprised of students hailing from all the schools of study

Would not require a lot of extra time outside class

Network with faculty and employers (judges) during event

D. April 14, 2018 -Date of competition

Teams present solutions/prototypes to ideas/issues they are passionate about in front of judges-TU faculty, local business partners, esteemed alumni...

Held on TU’s campus-cultivating an innovative campus with students who may one day be undergrads at TU!
