= 2020 Overview =

The University Innovation Fellows at Illinois Institute of Technology have discovered ample opportunities to advance our culture and services of innovation and entrepreneurship. Our current ~~2015~~ 2020 leadership circle of five hold a variety of backgrounds and majors, an advantage that reveals itself in the variety of strategic plans presented below. Informed by our work through the Landscape Canvass, a tool to evaluate the presence and distribution of innovative and entrepreneurial offerings at our university, we have developed the following strategies to nurture the creative potential of our campus.{{#Widget:Youtube|id=~~UtdLLHRVGPA~~D8h2NIPMQIE}}

= Project: Techstars Chicago Startup Week = = Strategy #1: Putting Illinois Tech on the Chicago ~~Startup Week~~I/E map ==== Team Leader: Pranav Nair  ====== Why: === <ul style="margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"><li>Illinois Tech lacks recognition in the Chicago I&E ecosystem</li></ul> === How: === <ul style="margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"><li>Tactic 1: Highlighting some of IIT's unique opportunities(IPROS,Kaplan Institute, Special Degree Programs) within the startup week program</li><li>Tactic 2: Intinium, one of Illinois Tech's student community is running the event! But in addition, we’ll get exposure through the events that we host (i.e. competitions)</li><li>Tactic 3: Partner with Innovative Hubs and be featured on their social media (i.e. podcasts)</li><li>Tactic 4: Press Releases (i.e. local Chicago News, Facebook/Google Ads, Google Search Results)</li></ul> = Strategy #2: Build a standard of collaboration among universities and establish them as the drivers of the next entrepreneurial generation in Chicago. ==== Team ~~Leaders~~Leader: Katja Berthold  === === Why: === <ul style="margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"><li>There is no existing active relationship between Illinois Tech I&E student groups and other university's I&E Groups</li></ul> === How: === <ul style="margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"><li>Tactic 1: Develop a relationship among the I&E student orgs at the universities in Chicago</li><li>Tactic 2: We are going to meet with student leaders weekly/bi-weekly who represent the entrepreneurial communities at their schools.</li><li>Tactic 3: We are going to delegate different days of the week to each of the schools</li><li>Tactic 4: we are also going to fill a few leadership positions with students from other schools.</li><li>Tactic 5: We hope to not only build relationships with student leaders across several universities, but build strong ties to entrepreneurial and innovative organizations at those respective schools.</li></ul> = Strategy #3: Provide entrepreneurs a platform to give back to their community by sharing their knowledge and experiences while creating relationships within the Chicago innovation space ==== Team Leader: André Guardia  ====== Why: === <ul style="margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"><li>There is a lack of opportunity for entrepreneurs in Chicago to give back to Illinois Tech students </li></ul> === How: === <ul style="margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"><li>Tactic 1: Making it a priority to highlight start-up founders, specifically students, within the startup week schedule. </li><li>Tactic 2: Focus on the entrepreneur’s journey and highlight the commonalities between them (i.e. lessons learned, unanswered questions, things they wish they were told)</li><li>Tactic 3: Get students to interact directly with entrepreneurs. (i.e workshops, guest speakers, fireside chats, etc.)</li></ul> = Strategy #4: Give students a unique opportunity to dream bigger by developing their innovative mindset and expanding their entrepreneurial network within the academic community ==== Team Leader: Jack Pio  ===

=== Why: === <ul style="margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"><li>Illinois Tech Students don't see entrepreneurship as a successful career path </li></ul> === How: === <ul style="margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"><li>Tactic 1: Send out a form to students at all universities in Chicago to get feedback and provide the best events </li><li>Tactic 2: Bringing visionary speakers to the week to talk to students about their stories and change students mindsets, so that they can do whatever they believe in </li><li>Tactic 3: Creating intentional time within the events to foster deeper relationships among students, especially cross university lines</li><li>Tactic 4: Creating tracks within the week to increase the time students spend with like minded students and create lasting connections beyond the week</li></ul>
