Project 1 : Encouraging a consistent culture of I&E on campus

Strategy 1: Bringing forth design thinking awareness through social hours online

To encourage increased participation in I&E activities, it is necessary to raise awareness on I&E concepts like design thinking. This can be achieved through social hours conducted online after college hours. It provides a casual and student-led environment for discussions and interactions with new peers. Listening to the opinions of students in a group environment also provides the opportunities to tailor design-thinking workshops to their needs. Social hours provide a more personalized pathway for creating awareness and building interest within the student body to sustain the other I&E strategies.

Strategy 2 : Conducting pop-up workshops periodically with diverse groups

It is vital to have ongoing innovative or entrepreneurial learning opportunities to maintain consistency. This can be achieved through pop-up workshops that are conducted periodically around different locations on campus. Picking design-thinking themes led by UIF Fellows or I&E pathways related to a specific field led by faculties, we can provide the foundational knowledge needed to pursue a future in innovation and entrepreneurship. It is also an opportunity to spark interest and encourage the student body to view I&E as a valuable addition to their skills and the community.

Strategy 3 : Promoting faculty - student interactions for I&E endeavors

The guidance required to start on an I&E journey can be provided by the experienced faculty on campus. Hence, increased collaboration and interaction between students and faculty is essential to illustrate the resources and feasibility for executing ideas into reality. Integrating faculty advice and their contributions to ongoing workshops and events can aid in building stronger relations between them and aspiring innovators.

Strategy 4 : Encouraging participation through selective and choice-based events for networking

Events to explore innovative ideas and projects encourage more students to prioritize innovative and entrepreneurial learning. Some events can be selective as it is specifically catered to existing I&E enthusiasts with a strong motivation in the field. Designing events to cater to a select group of people can better address their needs. Some events can be choice-based where those who are unfamiliar with I&E concepts can explore and learn more about the field. These events cater to those who just began their I&E journey and want to learn and know more about what is involved.

Project 2 : Build an effective communication network and encourage collaboration among individuals on campus

Strategy 1: Form a student committee to organise engaging sessions for enhanced learning and interaction.

The growth of communication effectively highlights the value of teamwork. Establishing a strong network around campus and ensuring the involvement of students and faculty on campus would require a student committee with the right understanding and analysis of campus requirements.

Strategy 2: Encouraging individuals of various majors to work on collaborative projects.

Sharing creative ideas and similar concepts will encourage faculty and students to work together across disciplines. These collaborations would help promote the I&E culture on campus.

Strategy 3: Building a single, secured form of communication channel for individuals on campus.

All individuals on campus would impact from the design and implementation of a collaborative team effort through an online and secured form of communication channel in terms of simplicity, networking, clarity, and effectiveness.

Project 3 : Create opportunities for students for application of skills and creation of tech alongside classroom learning

Strategy 1: Spread awareness of importance developing practical skills among students along with practical guidance.

It is paramount that students understand the importance of developing practical skills and gaining an interest for creating solutions being in the field of Engineering. Spreading awareness of the same can be done introducing fun opportunities for students to experiment on their skills and by encouraging participation in project creation, idea generation competitions along with increasing the weightage of practical skills in evaluation of students.

Strategy 2: Avail facilities and new space for students to work on their own projects.

Students having a designated space for working on their projects and creating new technological solutions would really ramp up I&E on campus. Students' employability would also be enhanced. This is a medium-long term plan.

Strategy 3: Provide exclusive time in the college schedule for students to work on their projects.

Providing students with designated time for putting to practice what they've learnt in the curriculum would work wonders in fortifying their practical skills and the ability to apply their knowledge.

The organized time slot would also encourage students to utilize their time on campus more productively.

Project 4 : Help students and faculty to prioritize I&E alongside training and placements

Strategy 1: Organize idea pitching events including interested students and faculty

Most of the world changing ideas go in vain due to lack of recognition. Organising simple idea pitching events now and then can get them into the limelight and be a start of an innovation. Involving students AND the teacher community in the innovation process can help building a healthy atmosphere in and around the classroom.

Strategy 2: Encourage students and faculty to work together on projects

Students and faculty working together on projects can bring crazy ideas and experiential knowledge on the same table. This can help in bringing out more groundbreaking and practical Innovation.

Strategy 3: Encourage startup culture and organise investment campaigns

One of the major stage where majority of the startups and ventures fail is in finding funds. This is the part where entrepreneurs feel world's against them. We can provide an opportunity for the young entrepreneurs to find investors on the campus by organising investment campaigns every year just like we do campus recruitments. This could bring in more confidence in the student community to work on their innovation and help them to prioritise entrepreneurship alongside 9-5.


Fall 2020 Cohort

Project 1 : Building of courses with a main objective of expanding the I&E ecosystem

Strategy 1: Identify the strengths and weaknesses of students and strengthening it

An in depth understanding of students strengths and weaknesses will help us understand and build curriculum according to their needs. It will help us realize where most students need help and also which parts they find easier, this will help us focus more towards the points of improvements and also build a stronger and more focused course.

Strategy 2 : Instilling confidence in students with an idea and converting it into a business plan

Helping students understand the step by step process of how I&E as a concept works will be a key contributor in this course. Helping students get the basics and foundations right will help them convert their ideas into reality. Also helping them convert their ideas into a business model and plan will instill confidence in them and give them ground to stand on.

Strategy 3 : Reaching out to maximum students in college to promote I&E

As we move into a world where things change on seconds, it is very important to ride the wave of change and ensure we make the most out of it. With times even our work culture is changing and according to many, entrepreneurship is the future. Hence exposing as many students as possible to the curse will help young minds ride the wave and also might give them a chance to be part of the future or for that matter even good.

Project 2 : Imparting emotional intelligence in entrepreneurs who use empathy, problem-solving, and social skills to come up with solution and create strong relationships among communities

Strategy 1: Reaching out to the students to understand their thoughts and opinions in an approachable and amicable manner

It is said that we might be the masters of our minds, yet we are slaves to our emotions. Understanding and monitoring of emotions are essentials to any student preparing to take on the world. A great king must never seek out war, but must always be prepared for one, hence if one intends to conquer the world then understanding emotions and channeling them correctly is key. But no one is just ready to open up and share, hence approaching students correctly and comforting them can help them open up a bit more and can also help us understand how to help them better manage their best assets.

Strategy 2: Conducting awareness drives for all the students and helping them understand the essence of emotional stability

Awareness on topics like mental health and emotional stability is a forever ongoing operation. No matter how well we think we may know things, we are always going to need help. Spreading awareness and helping people understand the importance of help may just make them realize how important a concept mental health can be. It can also help them better understand what they are going through in many situations.

Strategy 3: Creating an interactive and engaging ecosystem on campus with skilled staff working on this agenda

On concepts relating towards emotions, feelings and mental health knowing how to help is different from helping. We need people who understand this difference and can bridge the gap here. Hence having skilled professional staff can be a huge advantage in these situations.


Project 3 : Set up a I&E Lab for students to test their ideas and Hold Semi-Annual conferences on I&E in association with ASPERA (E-Cell)

Strategy 1: Start small by setting up a lab and encouraging the ASPERA Community to participate

Having a space themed or designed with a specific purpose generally allows someone freedom to explore the theme and play around it to test what they can build. Most inventions made today were either mistakes or built in a specific themed place, we intend to offer both. This space can be a starter for dreams or a foundation for mistakes that may one day change the world.

Strategy 2: Conducting preliminary events to engage students beforehand

Creating awareness on this makerspace and its capabilities can help boost young minds to come and explore the space. Conducting events here will attract both students and experts to a single platform, thereby allowing interaction between achiever's and aspiring achiever's.

Strategy 3: Connecting students with established entrepreneurs to show them that their idea can be a reality

Role modelling has proven to be an incredible way to motivate people to achieve. Hence connecting students with their role models or people who have achieved success in their fields will make students either want to replicate them or beat them. This is will ensure growth of both the space and the students and might also allow students to be mentored by those who know and understand the industry.

Strategy 4: Encouraging students to participate in entrepreneurial activities which will help them lean more towards innovation rather than jobs

Allowing students to participate in such activities might inspire them to get into I&E and might push them to become entrepreneurs, which is the main goal of the program.

Project 4 : Creating an active mentorship and internship program to link our I&E course with corporate and entrepreneurship mindset

Strategy 1: Offering incentives to mentors in order to keep them motivated towards course objectives

A mentor empowers a person to see a possible future and believe it can be obtained, thereby having mentors stay with us throughout the program will be a key function in this idea, hence offering of small incentives might help them stay and help us grow as a program. Moreover offering mentors an incentive might even attract more mentors to join the program and help young minds out.

Strategy 2: Creating an effective ecosystem between mentors and mentees that promotes growth and knowledge enhancement

Ensuring both a mentor and a mentee see eye to eye and understand each other is crucial to the growth of an idea. This idea also focuses on creating an ecosystem or platform wherein both can come together not only to discuss an idea but also to understand each other and learn ethics of the business. Essentially the student has the opportunity to intern with their mentor and understand a plethora of things.

Strategy 3: Linking the experience with college through alumni network

College alumni serve as valuable resources in terms of personal experience and journey, hence finding a way to link the alumni network of the college with the idea could be an interesting breakthrough.


Fall 2019 Cohort

Project 1: Improvising the space for creativity and innovation

Strategy 1: Discussion with stakeholders.

In the stakeholders meeting, we will discuss with our stakeholders regarding the mobile makerspace and prototyping lab that has to be implemented to enrich the innovation space in our college. 

Strategy 2: Creating a Mobile makerspace in the campus.

With the available space in our college, we tend to implement mobile makerspace for innovation and creativity. Students can utilise these mobile spaces to prototype, build, innovate and implement any idea that they want to work on. These spaces can also be utilised by the faculty to build models which can be used in classroom education and academic purporses.

Strategy 3: Renovate the existing space to prototyping labs.

Mobile makerspace is a brilliant idea to implement in short time. But, to create a space that can fit more than 200 students, it takes a lot of time. Protyping labs can help improve and add additional features to what mobile makerspace provides. Even if students want to create props for an event, they can log into prototyping labs and work on it. In this tactic, we plan to integrate already existing spaces such as laboratories with prototyping environment to make it a better place for innovation. This reduces their time from travelling to shops and stores to buy the items and accessories to make a prop or a prototype.

Project 2: Improve the understanding about banking sector and real world entity.

Strategy 1: Conduct a talk which gives information regarding real world entity like banking, income tax and consumer rights.

A talk provides a basic knowledge on what's important and necessary .It would include conversation where audience would be involved. Hence a to and fro talk is encouraged so as to make sure that students are educated.

Strategy 2: Create a blog and provide information on a weekly basis so that students can get updates regularly. 

The information will be conveyed in a simple go for easy understanding and implementation. Since all the information are consolidated at one place, one can visit the blog at any time and get the updates.

Strategy 3: Conduct workshop where we provide practical approach through different tasks.

The information which is to be conveyed will be included in the different stages of tasks. The main aim of conducting workshop is to gain practical knowledge on real life entity.

Project 3: Improve the overall understanding on engineering topics.

Strategy 1:  Conduct workshops on popular and potentially useful technologies

Workshops and hands-on sessions will be conducted for the students on popular and potentially useful topics such as Aurdino, Raspberry Pi, IoT, Machine Learning, Photoshop and others to help broaden the skill set of these students.

Strategy 2:  Organise sessions and talks on non mainstream topics.

There are many concepts which are not taught to the students but are still expected of them such as Google docs, sheets and slides or how to present a paper and other concepts. These concepts usually represent a gap between what the students know and what they are expected to know. The aim here is to bridge this gap.

Strategy 3: Assign short term goals and projects on necessary topics.

Assigning short term goals to the students will provide them a path to follow so that they can achieve the required mastery over the necessary topics. The projects would help solve the problem of a lack of hands-on experience on the topics and would make sure their knowledge is not surface level.

Project 4: Help improve mental health to better student’s performance.

Strategy 1: Conduct workshop on Mental Health by Professional

Workshops by a mental health care professional to the students on raising awareness of potential catalysts for stress and how to help identify a peer out of depression. Along with which help students self to develop the skills and resilience needed to overcome these triggers.

Strategy 2: Include “stress-busters” in everyday learning sessions

Although our routines make us more efficient and enhance our feelings of security and safety, a little change of pace can perk up a tedious schedule. To help main the creativity levels and break up the monotony stressbusters are essential. Stressbuster can include small fun activities and games which is inclusive of everyone. This helps in rejuanating the minds and increases the productivity. 

Strategy 3: Collaborating with mental health support organisation.

As many students are hesitant to approach other students or even the college for help or support, we decided to link with mental health support organisations to help these students get the proper help that they need.

Project 5: Provide financial assisstance to the students.

Strategy 1: Provide an opportunity for students to work as research assistants to the faculty.

Research assistant is  a very good job for students as it provides an opportunity to learn while also providing a method to sustain their financial needs. Having a research assistant is also very useful to the faculty as it reduces the burden on them. Our idea is to link the interested students and the faculty.

Strategy 2: Providing an opportunity for students to teach students for financial gain.

Many students learn better if some part of their curriculum is covered by other students or peers rather than the faculty. It leads to a better bonding between the peers while reducing the burden on the faculty. The idea is to have senior students teach their juniors some chapters or concepts for a small amount of money.

Strategy 3: Provide on campus jobs.

To support the students who have weaker financial backgrounds, on campus jobs can be provided. These jobs can be technical such as managing the database or non technical like library assistants.
 

Fall 2018 Cohort

Project 1: Encouraging inter-disciplinary methods to enhance learning outcomes

Strategy 1: Implementing concept of Pick-a-Lane

Academic topics from different fields and branches are given to the students, where each student picks up a random topic and starts learning for the same. Given a week’s time, they come and give daily updates about their learning. After a week, the students realise whether they want to continue the same topic or choose another topic. They also share it with the other students and spread their ideologies about the topic they have prepared for. Topics are chosen such that they are beneficial to them, irrespective of their major.

Strategy 2: Initiate the notion of Learn and Build

A unique concept which focuses mainly on experimental learning through scalable hands-on models. Students are taught basic concepts which proves to be a necessity learning in their everyday life. These are concepts that are being learnt in the academics and made into models. This allows learning of core concepts along with it’s implementations, thereby ensuring a good foundation for them.

Project 2: Motivating the students to take up challenges and create a network.

Strategy 1: Helping students know the world! Broadcasting!!

Due to busy schedule, students often miss out on the important news, current affairs, upcoming and trending technologies, general knowledge which is a must for them. We can try to make sure that those students share their knowledge and information to their peers and ensure an environment where gaining on knowledge is at its peak.Videos relating to the above-mentioned topics will be shown to them. This will in turn enhance the learning outcomes.

Strategy 2: Having informal meetings, usually related to technology…Barcamp

Barcamp is a user generated conference, participatory where the content is provided by the participants. We have inter-disciplinary topics, where students can share plethora of ideas and views, making them more prone to the world of technology. We also conduct debates and/or after each session, which enhances student interest and keen participation. Hand-outs of the key points will be given at the end of the session for them to look up to. The above two strategies ensures that students mingle with students of other branches as it involves them to interact with other individuals and know about their ideologies as well.

Project 3: Improvising their experience technically

Strategy 1: Helping them understand concept in a much efficient way, Conceptual Learning using Each One Teach One technique

We teach the concepts applicable to students through models & simulations to make them understand it’s working. The models are hand-made, and the simulations are tested for compatibility on all basis i.e., it can be understood by a beginner as well as novice/professionals. We give a chance to everyone to share their knowledge of a subject/concept/topic to the audience. This is made so that everyone is allowed an opportunity to show-case their knowledge as well as an opportunity to teach. Individuals/Students often understand when they are taught by their friends or peers. Taking this idea into consideration, we have introduced a new way of helping students learn the concepts better.

Strategy 2: Spreading awareness about the present technology by implementing the innovative idea of Teach the Trending Technology

Students usually come across a scenario where they have no idea of the conversation on the topic on technology. To overcome this situation which is due to lack of our knowledge on the subject matter, teach the trending technology is planned so that everyone is updated what’s happening in the current world. This is implemented through informative sessions, video tutorials & a few hands-on sessions.

Project 4: Eliminating the mental and physical stress

Strategy 1: Innovative means of providing information to students by conducting Knowledge Charades.

We know that students these days are unaware of current affairs lack general knowledge & the new ways of learning such as cyber hunt etc. So we came up with the improvisation of dumb-charades called the knowledge charades in which the students will be enacting anything related to a famous personality or a new trend/topic that is worth sharing. After the students guess the right answer, unknown facts and mind striking information about the topic/personality will be shared, thereby making way for fun-learning.

Strategy 2: Encouraging students to dream big and to have a vision through their ideas and discover their crafty skills.

Here students can come up with their crazy ideas to change something in this society irrespective of whether it can be implemented or even given a thought about it, and share or present it to others and get their insight about it. They can get crafty and explain their ideas through their work. This helps students in developing their imaginary and creative skills.

Strategy 3: Introducing them to the world of Literature.

Students can also express themselves through their poems, articles and short stories make use of this opportunity to share it with others. We give them inspirational books to read and this in turn inculcates values in them. After reading a story they share it with those who would rather prefer listening than reading. They can also enact small plays which enhances their innovative skills.
