Nebeyou J. Esayas is a Freshman at the University of Tulsa Majoring in Business Management Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He is working to earn a Minor in either Economics or Marketing. Born and raised in Rockville, Maryland, he attended Richard Montgomery High School where he was in the International Baccalaureate Program (IB). At Richard Montgomery, he was in DECA for two years where he won First and Second place at the Maryland State Conference. He was also a member of the InnovateRM entrepreneurship club. Neb was on the varsity swim team for all four years of high school. Outside of the classroom, he was deeply involved in entrepreneurship. He was a student in Launch Academy, where he learned basic business skills and the Youth Entrepreneurship Society where he learned about social entrepreneurship and began work on his first company. In May of 2015, he launched his first company, SimpleServe. It was a technology based service geared towards eliminating paper waste and streamlining the way students documented community service hours. While in high school, he volunteered at swim meets and helped coach for his summer swim team. He also worked as a tutor and brand ambassador for Aristotle Circle. In January 2017, Neb began manufacturing and selling Fidget Spinners shortly before the trend began. During the summer of 2017, Neb worked as an Intern at United Bank in Washington D.C. Neb is currently a member of Aspiring Marketing and Management Professionals (AMMP), Oklahoma Youth Entrepreneurship Awards (OYEA) and is a NOVA fellow. He also volunteers at the local elementary school as a Youth Mentor and Reading Partner. Neb is also a member of Student Association where he serves as a senator. He also sits on the University Improvement Committee. Neb is in the first Presidential Leaders Fellowship class taught by the university president. He was named to the Dean’s List as a distinguished student for outstanding academic performance. Neb is also a frequent contributor to the Collegian, the school newspaper and participates in club tennis. In October of 2017 Neb launched EzEats, a Tulsa based food delivery service operated by students. He can speak two languages fluently and is working to master Spanish and German.
