Open to all students, the 3 Day Startup Competition will dive into design thinking, prototyping, and marketing workshops all in one event's setting with the ultimate goal of finding a solution for potential food deserts located in Southern Illinois. The USDA defines a food desert as, "<span style="color: rgb(70, 69, 69); font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11.52px;">parts of the country vapid of fresh fruit, vegetables, and other healthful whole foods, usually found in impoverished areas. This is largely due to a lack of grocery stores, farmers’ markets, and healthy food providers."
