New page

Anastasia is a senior at the University of North Florida pursuing a dual degree in Sociology and Communications with a concentration in Advertising. She was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and has lived there all of her life. She has always had a passion for creating inclusive environments and challenging the social norms. For her data analysis class, she researched racial tolerance with the factors of favorability and neighborhood preferences and presented this research at her school's symposium winning an honorable mention award.

She has always tried to balance both of her majors, and decided to do an internship in Spring of 2019 at Brunet Garcia Advertising Agency as an Account Intern. In this role, she conducted research into potential clients so that the team could better pitch to the client. She also did an internship this past summer in New York City at the Center for Constitutional Rights as a Communication's Intern. With this being her first time in New York City, this internship not only gave her the experience to use her graphic design skills to promote social justice, but also gave her the experience of living in New York City. She had the opportunity to design banners, flyers, postcards, and brochures. Her greatest accomplishment in this role was designing a banner that was used at the Eric Garner protest.

Upon coming back to school this Fall of 2019, she started her own club called the Communication Minorities Outreach Club (CMOC). The goal of the club is to promote diversity in the field by going to local majority-minority schools and informing students about the variety of careers and branches in the communication field. This club will also promote professional development among its members through workshops and networking. Upon graduation, she hopes to either go to graduate school or become a brand strategist for an advertising agency.
