Hello! My name is Mela Hammond and I am a senior at Central Michigan University studying entrepreneurship, professional sales, and management. I am a passionate learner and I love to try new things and meet new people! As a lifelong learner and carrier of useless knowledge, I love trivia and talking to experts who are crazy about their niche. I am always motivated to explore unique ideas, especially when it comes to social entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and the science of storytelling.

My journey so far has been a mix of both classroom and real-world experience, where I've enjoyed incredible opportunities to dive into the realm of social impact and innovation. Being both fascinated and strongly influenced by design thinking, I believe that problem solving is meant to be a people-centric process. I am driven by the notion that meaningful change is only possible when we combine creativity with empathy.

 Mela grew up in Hartland, Michigan where she graduated from Hartland High School in 2022. As a kid, Mela loved to play soccer, read, and watch Jeopardy with her dad. Following her graduation from high school, she was admitted to the Central Michigan University Honors Program as a Centralis Scholar and promptly enrolled in the 2026 cohort.
