-Maria Sagastume earned her Bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering and STEM Education and an MBA in Healthcare Management at Florida Tech in Melbourne, Florida. She is now a PhD student in Human-Centered Design and is working on her literature review for her dissertation topic. She will teach first-year experience for the 3rd time during the fall semester to first-year engineering students where she will incorporate the KEEN mindset and 3C's model that she was trained on when she represented Florida Tech at the KEEN conference as an FYE instructor. Maria is part of the group of faculty working on the KEEN project for maker spaces and incorporating entrepreneurial mindset to first year engineering students.

Besides this leadership experience, Maria has been an intern for a local medical device company for the past 2 years in the departments of engineering, quality and regulatory, marketing, and product and strategy. Maria hopes to work with this company for her dissertation research and study patient engagement and recovery from data obtained through cardiac monitors and implantable devices.
