The '''National Skill Development Agency''' ('''NSDA''') is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of[[File:Nsda-logo.png|thumb]] India, which coordinates and harmonizes the skill development efforts of the Indian government and the private sector to achieve the skilling targets of the 12th Plan document and beyond. The NSDA plays a pivotal role in bridging the social, regional, gender and economic divide by ensuring that the skilling needs of the disadvantaged and marginalized groups like SCs, STs, OBCs, minorities, women and differently capable persons are taken care of through the various skill development programmers and also by taking affirmative actions as part of advocacy. The Central Ministries and NSDC continue to implement schemes in their remit. The NSDA's role is also to anchor the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and facilitate the setting up of professional certifying bodies in addition to the existing ones. The NSDA came into existence on 6 June 2013 through a gazette notification. It subsumed the Prime Minister’s National Council on Skill Development (PMNCSD).

As NSDA keeps check on the major schemes about the set standards, it has achieved remarkable impacts:

1.    Over 5.2 million students trained.

2.    Vocational training introduced in 10 States, covering 2400+ schools, 2 Boards, benefitting over 250 thousand students. Curriculum based on National Occupational Standards (NOS) and SSC certification. NSDC is working with 21 universities, Community Colleges under UGC/AICTE for alignment of education and training to NSQF.

3.    Designated implementation agency for the largest voucher-based skill development program, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.

4.    Skill Development Management System (SDMS) with 1400 training partners, 28179 training centres, 16479 trainers, 20 Job portals, 77 assessment agencies and 4983 empanelled assessors. Hosting infrastructure certified by ISO 20000/27000 supported by dedicated personnel.

= NOTES ABOUT HOW THIS RESOURCE IS DEPLOYED =

This resource can be deployed by taking into consideration what is the current need of the industry. As industries are now a days getting automated so the centres dedicated for automation can be selected by the college administration and in collaboration with NSDA opportunities can be provided to the students. By taking NSDA into the picture the funds can be generated for the subsidised courses and training for the students.

As we are well aware of the various courses provided by this agency and also it aims to synergize skill initiatives in the country, a college can moreover plan to startup some activities of NSDA.

And also provided the fact that National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) is an autonomous body under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship that anchors the National Skill Qualifications Framework and allied quality assurance mechanisms, This will enable a person to acquire desired competency levels, transit to the job market and, at an opportune time, return for acquiring additional skills to further upgrade their competencies.

In two ways this resource can be brought in the campus

First by converting any skill development centre established in the institute into NSDC centre, in this way the funds will be provided by the indian government for improvement and development of the centre.

Second by inviting NSDC personnel to your campus. The NSDC personnel will visit your campus or invite the interested students to the centre and carry out a session regarding the facilities and trainings.
