Karie CHAN is one of the University Innovation Fellows and an undergraduate student studying Social Sciences at Lingnan University. Her major is Sociology and she is currently living in dormitory in Lingnan. Being passionate in acquiring a basic understanding in global issues and making change, she is glad to have a treasurable opportunity in joining UIF Program.At Lingnan University, Karie is involved with several programmes. For instance, she has participated in Service-Learning Teaching Assistant Program (SLTA) since her second-year study and Taiwan Service-Learning Project during summer holiday in Jul-Aug 2018. Being a S-L Teaching Assistant, she works with staff from the Office of Service-Learning, faculty member and agency. This duty is to provide logistic and administrative support for different stakeholders and helps enhance her communication skills. Also, getting involved in an overseas project in Taiwan, she got to know more about some children-education issues and had cultural exchange with the local. She had great S-L experience during her tertiary schooling.By joining this UIF Program, Karie wishes to learn design-thinking skills and apply them into practice. Through the co-operation with other Lingnan fellows, she hopes to apply those innovative ideas to execute impact for Lingnan community. In her spare time, she loves watching movies and Korean entertainment show (Running Man). These helps her explore different cultures in the globe as she likes cultural exchange. Rainbow is a University Innovation Fellow in 2018 from Lingnan University, Hong Kong, senior student studying psychology. She is interested in psychology and would like to pursuit graduate degree in educational psychology field. By observation on the education system in Hong Kong, students used to study under high pressure and seldom be innovative on solving issues around them. To allow students figuring out their creativity and release pressure, promotion of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is very important. 

Rainbow is currently a member of uniform group in Hong Kong. She joint this group since 2009. She used to organize different leisure activities to fellow teammates. She is also working as research assistant in psychology laboratory and a public council in Hong Kong. In the future, she would like to become a educational psychologist and help the students in special education needs in Hong Kong.

In leisure time, she likes to watch Korean reality show. She has been a fan of "Running Man" for more than 6 years. She also likes Japanese idol group "Tokyo Girl Style" and became a fan since 2009. In fact, she likes listening to all kinds of music.

== Promoting student innovation and entrepreneurship ==

In recent years, Lingnan University begin to implement ideas like Innovation and Entrepreneurship into the campus, which aim at offering students a diversified and interesting learning experience. And it is mainly done through the following three departments and programmes.

Office of Service-Learning (OSL) was set up in November 2006 with the 5 million donations from Mr. LEUNG Kai Hung, Michael, Executive Chairman of Onwel Groups of Companies, and the matching grant from the University Grant Committee (UGC). It is the first stand-alone Service-Learning office among the universities in Hong Kong, which dedicates itself to nurturing change makers by encouraging students to engage in community service with academic knowledge through the experiential learning model.

Integrated Learning Programme (ILP)is one of the signature co-curricular programmes in the University which facilitates students to extend their learning beyond the classroom. With its wide spectrum of contents and interactive delivery modes, students are enabled to unlock potentials, boost confidence, make plans for life and achieve success. Students can develop their new interests and explore many learning opportunities from over 400 ILP activities each year.

====   Lingnan Entrepreneurship Initiative (LEI)  ====

Lingnan Entrepreneurship Initiative (LEI) is a collaborative Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) platform newly established to empower entrepreneurs, innovators, and inventors to take action for inclusive growth. A number of start-up activities and entrepreneurship programs are organized by LEI to increase students interest and incentives towards entrepreneurship.

There are many opportunities for faculty members to engage in Service-Learning and community- based research. Dickson is a University Innovation Fellow in 2018 from Lingnan University, Hong Kong, junior student from psychology. He is a outgoing person who love to meet new friends. He is also a creative person who always share new and innovative ideas when brainstorming different projects and campaigns. 

Dickson is a volleyball player. He has joint Lingnan volleyball team since freshman year. He always represents Lingnan University for joint university volleyball competition. He also likes to travel to different countries exploring new culture. He has been to Italy, Vietnam and other Aisan countries, and would love to explore more in the future.

Dickson is a University Innovation Fellow in 2018 from Lingnan University, Hong Kong, junior student from psychology. He is a outgoing person who love to meet new friends. He is also a creative person who always share new and innovative ideas when brainstorming different projects and campaigns. 

Dickson is a volleyball player. He has joint Lingnan volleyball team since freshman year. He always represents Lingnan University for joint university volleyball competition. He also likes to travel to different countries exploring new culture. He has been to Italy, Vietnam and other Aisan countries, and would love to explore more in the future.

Students walk pass will be able to see these information and join the activities if they wish to. This is a useful promotion tool that can reach a large number of people in the university. This can be done in the first year.

Realizing the problem that there aren’t enough promotion of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Lingnan, our group also come up with some possible solutions and ideas, one of them is to print advertising information of I&E on the takeaway lunchbox in canteen. Since, there is only one canteen in Lingnan, most of the students usually have lunch or buy takeaway lunches there. We discover that the takeaways lunchboxes have a lot of empty spaces in fact and it would be wasteful if students just throw them away. Therefore, we come up with the idea that  we could print some advertising information on the lunchbox, so that whenever students by takeaways lunches, it may arouse their interest.
Regarding the process of launching this project. We would first design an attractive and informative cover for the advertising, then we would contact school office and canteen to seek their approval. Once we get the approval, we would then contact the company which produce the current lunchboxes in canteen, send them our design and print them out. Some Lingnan alumni in entrepreneurial sector and other successful start-up founders are invited to be mentors for Lingnan students. This program serves as a platform for both parties to share their creative thoughts. A series of interactive activities will be arranged for both mentors and mentees to establish a close relationship and get a deep understanding towards innovative entrepreneurship. == Promoting student innovation and entrepreneurship ==

In recent years, Lingnan University begin to implement ideas like Innovation and Entrepreneurship into the campus, which aim at offering students a diversified and interesting learning experience. And it is mainly done through the following three departments and programmes.

Office of Service-Learning (OSL) was set up in November 2006 with the 5 million donations from Mr. LEUNG Kai Hung, Michael, Executive Chairman of Onwel Groups of Companies, and the matching grant from the University Grant Committee (UGC).
