Purity is a Sophomore at Johnson C. Smith University ('2025). She is majoring in Computer Science and Information Systems with a minor in Data Science. She is an international student from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Her journey as an international student has been very eventful and quite adventurous. She has embraced all the experiences that come with being in a completely different environment. She hopes to become a Data Analyst after graduation, given her love for working and dealing with data. Purity has other plans for her life, including entrepreneurship as she plans on starting many businesses, including establishing her baking business which is already in existence.

Purity believes in giving back to the community! She is very passionate about school pride and opening up opportunities for other students on her campus. UIF was a great fit for her because she was looking to learn about how she can help improve her campus. Purity loves nature and enjoys spending her free time in the midst of nature as well as watching beautiful views. She is a very warm and welcoming person. You can feel free to contact Purity to hear more about an international student's journey in the US, baking, or school experiences in general.

I appreciated this article because of its perspective on volunteers. Too often, organizers can look at volunteers and think "what can they do for me"? This article upends that thought process because it changes the question to "How can I, the organizer, and the volunteer accomplish something together"? There is a reason why that volunteer is spending their time with you/your group. Organizers need to capitalize on that and work collaboratively together. The end of the article reminds organizers to look at every volunteer as a leader. Volunteers can bring a perspective to a project that was not acknowledged yet. They also take the momentum from your project and invest it into their own community. Volunteers are vital and when they are treated as such, the project will have much more success.

What a great and straightforward article. Organizing a student volunteer community does involve all these different aspects. I believe that getting students interested in becoming part of the community would be the most challenging. After reading the article, I believe organizing such a community successfully is possible. I also think that virtual meetings could be great since most people, especially students, prefer to be virtual as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
