= DANIEL DIMITROV   =

Daniel Dimitrov is a University Innovation Fellow and a student in the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". He is studying Business Administration in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA). Daniel was born in Targovishte (Bulgaria), where he lived until 2016 when he moved to Sofia (Bulgaria) and started his journey at the university.  During his first year there, he became a member of a student organization called Business Club. The club's main goal is to bring the students and the businesses closer while having fun. Daniel met fresh, young people who had the same desire to work on the projects as he had. Now Daniel is in his third year at the University and in Business club and he is in charge of many projects and is trying to engage the younger students to be active as well.  Daniel has been interested in entrepreneurship since very young age. The main reason is that his parents have their own business which has helped him become familiar with a lot of things in the business world. Sports have always been a part of Daniel's life. He has trained Tennis and Football and practiced Mountain Biking for years.

Iliya Dechkov is a University Innovation Fellow and a student in Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". He is studing Economics & Finance in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. He is from Shumen (Bulgaria) where he lived unitl 2016 when he moved to Sofia (Bulgaria) and started his univeristy and business journey.

He defined himself as a self-motivated lifetime student. Always try to find a way to stay humble and curious in order to learn something new daily and open his mind for even greater horizons. This is the reason why he became a president of a Student organisation called Business club. Meeting new people with extraordinary vision is something he loves and the club gives him this opportunity.

Iliya is a positive stubborn who receives an enormous amount of satisfaction when he succeed in something that other people have said to be impossible.  He is a founder of several organisations and the expirience he has with developing them is priceless.

''''''Martin is a University Innovation Fellow and a student in Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". He is studing Business Administration in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. He is from Sofia and started his university experience in 2016.

Martin has held an internship at a bank in Bulgaria, which evolved into a part-time job for 11 months which sparked his entrepreneurial spirit. He is an ambitious and aspiring businessperson with many ideas. As at October 2018 he is doing an Erasmus exchange in Germany to improve his language skills and soak new entrepreneurial ideas from new acquaintances and cultures from all around the world.

Martin is interested in social sports, like rock climbing, which is an exceptional catalyst for soft skill development and social abilities in general, which are part of every successful entrepreneur.

We believe that when it comes to encouraging and innovation it all comes down to the faculty members and the students. On the one side, the faculty members are supposed to encourage the students to be more innovative and to use innovative methods of teaching. On the other hand, no matter how hard the faculty members are trying, if the students are not open to different, innovative ideas, then there is not much that the teacher can do. In the case of Sofia University, there are a lot of faculty members that are great professionals and they are doing a great job in encouraging the students to be innovative. The students themselves are mostly open-minded which leads to a overall very good atmosphere around the campus.

 

= ACTIVELY SUPPORTING THE UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER FUNCTION =

The research sector at the Sofia University, called'''NIS''' is the closest to this catecory unit that exists in our university. It covers the activities of the academic staff in organizing, servicing and performing fundamental and applied research, consultancy, expert, technological and other activities carried out on the basis of contracts. '''NIS''' works on a business bill basis. Over 300 contracts are implemented annually through '''NIS''', of which about 60% are funded by the National Science Fund, about 30% by European Commission programs and about 10% by industry.

= FACILITATING UNIVERSITY-INDUSTRY COLLABORATION =

Sofia University is very consistent in bringing business people in the campus. Every year there are a lot of lectures, held by members of large companies, startup founders and many others successful and inspiring guests. Both the Faculty members and the Clubs in the university are actively taking part in this task.The University is a part of the'''Student Practices program''' by the bulgarian Mynestry of Education and Science which gives every student the chance to apply for a job in a great variaty of companies.

Some lecturers develop research and innovations, achieve some significant discoveries and results that are then implemented / used by companies.Some students start their own businesses during their education in the university or after graduating.
