== Strategy #1 ==

We are surprised to find that a noticeable number of female interviewees (80 percent) in our school don’t want to do any entrepreneurship or pioneering work since they are afraid of their gender as well as the heavy work. We wonder if this means that she misunderstands the concept of entrepreneurship, or there is a discrimination on females in our society and she is influenced to some extent.

We can set up an association in Zhejiang University, which aims to help women in the university realize how to avoid weaknesses in the innovation and entrepreneurship, and teach them how their strengths can be utilized. In this way they will understand that there are many opportunities for women in the innovation and entrepreneurship, and they will have more enthusiasm in I&E program.

In China's universities, the establishment of associations is a quite complicated matter. Because the school supervise the associations strictly, the establishment of associations needs to prepare a lot of material, and after layers of approval. For example, the first thing is to put a variety of documents (more than a dozen forms) submitted to the Federation, and then federation of associations would verify the data, sorting and archiving, and report to the community guidance center.

In China, women tend to be more sensible and be entangled with the details, which will lead to that their decision-making is not timely. A female entrepreneur once said that the biggest gain of their own business 10 years is: You do not get what you deserve, but what you negotiate.

Students lack opportunities to learn with the I&E in modern society, we are not fully aware of the social problems or the expedite proceedings of the society, we lack the instructions from firm and company mentors. For instance, business students are mostly learning basic theories without combining with the exact situations in companies which demand innovation and entrepreneurship. Besides, for architecture students, build a solid foundation is crucial, but they lack drawing while communicating with designers, students lack firm mentors.

We plan to make an organization connecting firm, company mentors and students interested in innovation and entrepreneurship .We support the program with scholarship in order to stimulate both the mentors and students to cooperate with each other and award for the well-behaved ones.

   By setting up a formal organization, we need to prepare lots of material, and hand in a planning scheme to illustrate our aims, participants, supporters , organizers and activities. ''August – September'' Get into the firms and companies right away to prompt innovation and entrepreneurship

Mentors let students learn the situation the running of their business, and figure out how to make innovation and entrepreneurship part of their company strategies, students are not only followers but also creativity supporters, students help with suggestions under the instructions of their mentors, it’s more than a usual internship which demands students’critical and innovative thoughts and contributions.  Students will actively keep pace with the rapid change of society and easily realize the key problems needed to be solved. These will definitely enhance their I&E spirit.

In China, it is a must for university students to take a lot of low-quality courses each semester to meet the graduation credit requirement, which has adverse effects on students.

1.        The requirements of these courses are low and cannot enhance students’ relevant abilities, which is just a waste of time.

2.        Too many courses mean that students have to spend considerable time on curriculum, as a result of which, they cannot have enough time to explore something they are passionate about.

As a result, it is common that a large number students lack critical thinking and innovative ability in China.

Conduct an investigation on students and find out problems of low-quality courses. For an organization to succeed, especially when it seeks to change, it needs support from the top of the organization. Probably the most important person who must believe in the compelling case you develop in Step One above, is the President of your college or university.

These faculty regard it as a set of stories that don’t match the rigorous traditional discipline-based courses.

Zhejiang University (ZJU, also known as Che Kiang University; simplified Chinese: 浙江大学; traditional Chinese: 浙江大學; pinyin: Zhèjiāng Dàxué; Wade–Giles: Che-chiang-ta-hsüeh), sometimes referred to as Zheda, is a national university in China. Founded in 1897, Zhejiang University is one of China's oldest, most selective and most prestigious institutions of higher education. It is a member of the C9 League, the Yangtze Delta Universities Alliance and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities.

The university campus is located in the city of Hangzhou, approximately 112 miles (180 km) southwest of Shanghai. Zhejiang University Library's collection contains about 7 million volumes, making it one of China's largest academic libraries.

== Student Entrepreneurship ==

Zhejiang University offers various kinds of projects to improve the Student Entrepreneurship. For example, “Entrepreneurship in China & OBOR” International Summer School is a unique three-week program which offers participants an opportunity to understand the entrepreneurial China in one of China's most dynamic growth areas.

Combined fieldwork with courses, the program encourages participants to observe and learn from the real business settings via company visits, networking events with entrepreneurs and tours searching for business opportunities. By the end of the program, they will be required to create their own China business initiative and present it to the final judges as part of their assessment.

The curriculum is well designed covering different facets of "entrepreneurship" including the cultural issue, the economic issue, the marketing issue as well as specific areas such as intellectual property and big data. Cultural immersion sessions are offered throughout the program, participants will be able to experience how to speak, write, and dress like a Chinese.

== Faculty Innovation and Entrepreneurship ==

Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy School of Management at Zhejiang University is among the first higher education institutions in China which started research and educational activities on innovation, entrepreneurship and strategy. The School is the founding organization of the World Entrepreneurship Forum and collaborated with Babson College in the US and Emlyon Business School in the France to launched the Global Entrepreneurship Program in 2009, which is the world's first entrepreneurship master program across the three continents. The School organized annually the Forum of Leading Scholars on Strategic Management which has become one of the most influential academic conferences in the field in China.

== University - Industry Collaboration ==

Zhejiang University has close Collaboration with many industrial companies, including a various kinds of companies in China as well as in U.S. One of the most famous instance is Large Scale Information System Research Center, Zhejiang University.

Since the late 90s of last century, the Center for Information Systems Research Center under the leadership of Professor He Zhijun, has been exploring how to cooperate with industry, especially with foreign high-level companies. == Regional and Local Economic Development ==

Hangzhou Economic & Technological Development Zone was established and approved as a national development zone by the State Council in 1993. It covers an area of 104.7 km2 (40.4 sq mi). Encouraged industries include electronic information, biological medicine, machinery and household appliances manufacturing, and food processing.Hangzhou Export Processing Zone was established on April 27, 2000 upon approval of the State Council. It was one of the first zones and the only one in Zhejiang Province to be approved by the government. Its total planned area is 2.92 km2. It is located close to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and Hangzhou Port.

Hangzhou Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone was set up with approval from the State Council as a state level Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone in March 1991. The HHTZ is composed of three parts, with the main regions being the Zhijiang Sci-Tech Industrial Park and Xiasha Sci-Tech Industrial Park. HHTZ has become one of the most influential hi-tech innovation and hi-tech industry bases in Zhejiang Province. As of 2013, HHTZ hosts more than 1,100 software developers and BPO enterprises. Major companies such as Motorola, Nokia and Siemens have established R&D centers in the zone. In 2011, the GDP of the zone rose by 13.1 percent, amounting to RMB 41.63 billion. This accounted for 5.9 percent of Hangzhou's total GDP. The HHTZ positions itself as the "Silicon Valley" of China.

My name is Xiaoying LUO, a sophomore from Zhejiang University. I major in Tourism and Hospitality Management. When I entered the university, I was supposed to learn science and technology, but I feel like I am more interested in business. I therefore chose management as my major, and I strongly believe that you can do the best if you put your full effort in and combine your studies with innovation and entrepreneurship. I'm most passionate about solving education problems in rural areas. In August 2016, we students went to Languan primary school, Weng'an County, Guizhou Province to do the long-term teaching of 14 days. I've really had the most meaningful and unforgettable time there. Besides the memorable moments we spent together and the promise we made to see them next year. We are sorry to find that their education quality is so poor that their English classes are replaced by other lessons and teachers are in great demand. Another thing is that children there are extremely brilliant and talented. They are sure to make achievements if they have better chances. But by visiting their home, I found that in their deep mind, they want to go outside to see the world, they want to go to good universities. But what depresses us is that parents don't ask much for their kids, most of them think their kids will stay in the county leading a simple life with them. We all know that in this case, they cannot change their destiny. I really plan that to do long time connection with the children , bring them books, knowledge and importantly , encourage them to pursue own dreams, and I'm optimistic about them and determined to do small improvements with them! I want to attend UIF program, because it empowers us to become agents of change at their schools. We learn to work to ensure that our peers gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to compete in the economy of the future and make a positive impact on the world.

When I entered the university, I was supposed to learn science and technology, but I feel like I am more interested in business. I therefore chose management as my major, and I strongly believe that you can do the best if you put your full effort in and combine your studies with innovation and entrepreneurship. I'm most passionate about solving education problems in rural areas. In August 2016, we students went to Languan primary school, Weng'an County, Guizhou Province to do the long-term teaching of 14 days. I've really had the most meaningful and unforgettable time there. Besides the memorable moments we spent together and the promise we made to see them next year. We are sorry to find that their education quality is so poor that their English classes are replaced by other lessons and teachers are in great demand. Another thing is that children there are extremely brilliant and talented. They are sure to make achievements if they have better chances. But by visiting their home, I found that in their deep mind, they want to go outside to see the world, they want to go to good universities. But what depresses us is that parents don't ask much for their kids, most of them think their kids will stay in the county leading a simple life with them. We all know that in this case, they cannot change their destiny. I really plan that to do long time connection with the children , bring them books, knowledge and importantly , encourage them to pursue own dreams, and I'm optimistic about them and determined to do small improvements with them! I want to attend UIF program, because it empowers us to become agents of change at their schools. We learn to work to ensure that our peers gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to compete in the economy of the future and make a positive impact on the world.

As schools look for innovative ways to bring in GCSP，here’s a possible road map for how to galvanize a school community.

1. Organize a teacher research and development team to dig deep into GCSP learning by having these teachers read widely on the topic, visit local businesses and industries engaged in GCSP work to interview real-world practitioners to find out what students need to be successful in these fields. This group can be comprised of 6 to 8 people and can act as the steering group for beginning an exploration of GCSP learning in a school community.

2. Have the team led several faculty meeting times to have teachers engage in the conversation around GCSP, and to explore and develop GCSP-related learning experiences in classrooms. This creates a safe space for learning and experimentation and provides a feedback loop for teachers as they try to understand the components of GCSP lesson and unit design.

3. Conduct curriculum reviews of relevant departments and take a close look at the Next Generation Science Standards to see where there are opportunities to incorporate GCSP into the already existing curriculum.

4. Have teachers and students visit other GCSP schools to engage in conversations with other teachers to figure out how best to begin to make inroads in GCSP. 

5. Bring an outside GCSP expert to cast a lens on the existing programs. It is always helpful to have an outsider’s eyes on the internal workings of a school so that the school can learn more about itself and how to grow.

6. Invite guest scientists in to the school to conduct experiments with students and to talk about what it is like to work in a GCSP field.

7. Entrepreneurship training is seen as a vital part of kids’ schooling. Whether it’s through after-school programs, summer camps, competitions, or in-class activities, advocates believe that learning the ins and outs of business-building can help develop some important real-world skills.

Hangzhou's economy has rapidly developed since its opening up in 1992. It is an industrial city with many diverse sectors such as light industry, agriculture, and textiles. It is considered an important manufacturing base and logistics hub for coastal China. The 2001 GDP of Hangzhou was RMB ¥156.8 billion, which ranked second among all of the provincial capitals after Guangzhou. The city has more than tripled its GDP since then, increasing from RMB ¥156.8 billion in 2001 to RMB ¥1.105 trillion in 2016 and GDP per capita increasing from US$3,025 to US$18,282.

The city has developed many new industries, including medicine, information technology, heavy equipment, automotive components, household electrical appliances, electronics, telecommunication, fine chemicals, chemical fibre and food processing.

Hangzhou Economic & Technological Development Zone was established and approved as a national development zone by the State Council in 1993. It covers an area of 104.7 km2 (40.4 sq mi). Encouraged industries include electronic information, biological medicine, machinery and household appliances manufacturing, and food processing.Hangzhou Export Processing Zone was established on April 27, 2000 upon approval of the State Council. It was one of the first zones and the only one in Zhejiang Province to be approved by the government. Its total planned area is 2.92 km2. It is located close to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and Hangzhou Port.

Hangzhou Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone was set up with approval from the State Council as a state level Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone in March 1991. The HHTZ is composed of three parts, with the main regions being the Zhijiang Sci-Tech Industrial Park and Xiasha Sci-Tech Industrial Park. HHTZ has become one of the most influential hi-tech innovation and hi-tech industry bases in Zhejiang Province. As of 2013, HHTZ hosts more than 1,100 software developers and BPO enterprises. Major companies such as Motorola, Nokia and Siemens have established R&D centers in the zone. In 2011, the GDP of the zone rose by 13.1 percent, amounting to RMB 41.63 billion. This accounted for 5.9 percent of Hangzhou's total GDP. The HHTZ positions itself as the "Silicon Valley" of China.
