== Create Ideation spaces with the people that live in the surroundings of the university ==
Uniandes is located in what used to be a humble neighborhood with a high level of poverty. Nowadays, the region has evolved into a more secure and developed one, yet there is still area for improvement. Proyecto Fenicia is an Uniandes initiative where the institution seeks to involve the neighborhood inhabitants in an effort to generate positive impact on the with the University’s growth. Our idea was to open and generate spaces where neighbors share their problems and students have ideation spaces to manage and solve hands-on projects with a positive impact on the Uniandes immediate surroundings, which really puts the project in the Colombian context, in the hope to help the development of great projects that can be replicated.

#Present the idea of a Fenicia Ideation center to the directives and to the neighborhood community
#Encourage students to be a part of the initiatives in their spare time (could eventually become an alternative instead of a thesis project or of participating as a TA in an academic investigation)

At Uniandes, At Los Andes, virtually every course that incorporates I&E into the formal learning curriculum is either of the Business, Design or Engineering department. Additionally, most competitions are for one or two departments, and creating interdepartment I&E competitions will allow the creation of synergies and will encourage the interchange of ideas and knowledge between students and will raise the viability of projects by questioning and challenging their assumptions.

We want to bring investors that could be interested in these opportunities and will offer funding and support for students to build and take forward their venture.

By creating spaces in which teachers and students can work and think together in innovative solutions and changes for the courses, the needs and tastes of students will be really address and the changes in the courses could be more successful.

Lina Merizalde is a University Innovation Fellow and an undergraduate student currently completing a Business Management major and a Design minor at Universidad de Los Andes (Uniandes). Here, Lina became part of the soccer team for 4 years, and was involved with scholarship fundraising for students in need. It was also at Uniandes where Lina was first exposed to the University Innovation Fellows initiative.

Having lived all her life in Bogotá, Colombia, Lina was exposed to the Colombian reality and felt an urge to work to improve it. For the past reason, her focuses include sustainability, innovation, and the creation of shared value. Lina has been involved in social and creative environments for many years, ranging from organizing social service activities as the NHS secretary in High School to beginning a design minor at Uniandes.

Related to Lina’s interests, she has always been athletically inclined, practicing soccer, volleyball, and tennis, among other sports. In this sense, sports have helped her get to know people, experience teamwork first handedly and gain discipline. Additionally, the combination of attending and American school, a Colombian university, and her academic exchange in Paris exposed her to a variety of environments, cultures, and education systems. In this sense, on campus she is interested in helping students have better communication across disciplines and increase collaboration and feelings of community in the student body.

David Delgado is a University Innovation Fellow who majors in two programs, Civil engineering and system and computing engineering at La Universidad de los Andes (Uniandes). Born in 1997, he is the youngest sibling. Delgado is from Bogota, Colombia where he has lived and studied his whole life. Having started studying only civil engineering, during his studies he started exploring programing and fell in love with the System and engineering program. [[File:DavidDelgado2.png|thumb]] At Uniandes, Delgado has been involved with the Ultimate Frisbee team for 2 years participating in multiple competitions and traveling with the team to different parts of the country. In addition, he has worked twice for the University as a Teacher Assistant in one the most important courses for system and computer engineers (APO 2) were students learn the basis of advanced programming in Java. In the later years, Delgado started showing interests in Innovation and entrepreneurship. His whole life, he was been very heavily involved in all kinds of sports, learning to play four different sports at advanced levels and multiple others at a recreational level, and going on to join a professional team to play the Ultimate Frisbee Nationals Junior. Delgado is passionate about changing and improving his surroundings, on his campus, he is interested in changing the concept of how the students learn and see their own education.
