= Introduction =

Established in 2005 by former President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Initiative (CGI) convened global and emerging leaders to creat and implement solutions to the world's most pressing challenges. CGI brought together more than 200 sitting and former heads of state, more than 20 Nobel laureates, and hundreds of leading corporate CEOs, Presidents of foundations, Executive Directors of the most effective NGOs, and major philanthropists to commit to take action against these challenges. They banded together in order to fight a wide variety of issues around the globe today including things all the way from climate change to people's health. The CGI accomplishes this through inspiration, networking, knowledge building, and collaboration of its members with a variety of communities.

= Need and Goal =

A variety of needs are attempted to be met by the CGI. They are affiliated with thousands of volunteering and aid efforts all around the world. In particular, they focus on fighting preventable diseases, health, childhood obesity, environmental protection, and fighting economic injustice.

A couple of the organizations which the CGI is strongly associated with are:

*The No Ceilings Project
*The Alliance for a Healthier Generation
*A host of CGI sub organizations

The goal of CGI is to promote the spread of not just opportunities to help people, but an actual response to a variety of plights around the planet.
