Born in the Philippines and raised in Fontana, California, James' initial coming into college was Political Science, and was first involved in the political realm of campus where he was a senate candidate for Student Action for the Associated Students of the University of California and an active member within the Philipino Community as a representative supporting under represented communities across California.

James' goal was to make a difference in the world. In his pursuit for impact, he found a passion combining leadership and design to build and solving problems through technology.

Outside of school, James loves playing competitive tennis, fishing, eating sushi, and going to music festivals. Living by the mantras ''"Live life on the edge, or else you're taking up too much space"'' and ''"If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything"''

James' favorite quote is ''"Open all the doors to any opportunities you can, but make sure you leave it open so that others can follow"'' by '''Michelle Obama'''.

Sydney Zachariah is currently a 2nd year Undergraduate student at the University of California, Berkeley majoring in Public Health and Psychology.

She is currently focusing on co-founding a club on campus called the Invention Corps of Berkeley -- An organization that utillizes design thinking to provide solutions for Poverty, Society, Health, and the Environment. In addition to this, she works as a sales associate for a retail company. In the past, Sydney has created a company focused on teaching hip-hop dance to kids in underserved communities while also giving them a safe place to express themselves. Over the summer, she will be interning at two different organizations: one as a medical scribe for a hospital and one as an intern at a pharmaceutical company researching new drugs in which clinical trials and research will be the main focus of the internship.

Sydney was born and raised in the Bay Area. Coming to Berkeley, her goal was to find something she was passionate about. After venturing in the fields of business, biology, computer science, and economics, she finally decided to pursue a pre-medicine track in order to fulfill her passion to help others through the health field while also educating individuals and families on things that could greatly improve their lifestyle. Through medicine, Sydney feels as though she can change and save lives which is her ultimate goal for herself. Sydney loves to go on adventures with people and "go with the flow" instead of getting caught up in the stress of being a college student. To accomplish this, she does the things she loves most: dancing, reading, going to concerts, hanging out with her dog, and engaging in group cooking activities. Sydney's favorite quote is "It is never too late to be what you might have been." by George Eliot.
James currently works as a Residential Computing Consultant for the Student Affairs and Information Services Department of the School where he was nominated and selected to recieve the Silicon Valley Chief Information Officer Award for 2016 and is a co-founder for the Invention Corps of Berkeley -- An organization that utillizes design thinking to provide solutions for Poverty, Society, Health, and the Environment. In addition to this, he has been a consultant and past Vice President for an organization called Berkeley innovation that focuses on utillizing the human-centered design process to consult for-profit companies.

''My name is James Zamora and I am a 3rd year student at the University of California, Berkeley majoring in Cognitive Science with a minor in Computer Science. I truly think that my genuine passion for design was catalyzed by a network of unplanned circumstances that some way or another connected and molded me into the individual I am today. As a student at the University of California, Berkeley that my passion did was not leading, but building. ''Prior to taking that class, I was involved with the University as the Legislative Director for the Office of the President for the Berkeley student body and an intern for two Philipinx organizations that focused on supporting underrepresented communities.

That same year I took my first computer science course. Thinking that I would be able to broaden my more technical familiarity, I decided on applying to a club called Berkeley Innovation. After the recruitment process, it wasn’t until after I was admitted that I realized I joined a design club. Unfamiliar with this field I never would have imagined that design encompassed much more than color pallets and graphic designs, but creating, building, and re-imagining the world through a whole new spectrum.

Growing up in a low income- first generation family was an obstacle that limited me from truly exploring the vast opportunities that technology had to offer. Our family had never owned the newest, most cutting edge computer. However, soon after being introduced to computer science, I found myself consulting for fortune 500 tech companies and redesigning user interfaces for virtual reality wearable devices, designing devices that used triangular navigation, creating video games, and ultimately viewing the world through a more technical lens. Paired with the social skills I had learned through leadership; I am now working for my University’s Student Affairs Information Technology department as a residential computer consultant for University residents where I was nominated and chosen to receive the Silicon Valley Chief Information Scholarship Award. I also worked as a research fellow for the Pineda Foundation, focusing on Disabled People Policies and the emerging development of SMART Cities throughout the world. Since my initial introduction to the field of technology and design, I co-founded a University-sponsored organization called the Berkeley Invention Corps which brings together 25 students from diverse disciplines to create technology that tackles issues with health, society, poverty and the environment.

To continue my goals of developing a multidisciplinary scope of the world, I will be continuing to pursue technology and innovative thinking at Blackrock through an internship this summer.
