<u>Innovation & Entrepreneurship at AIC</u>
American International College (AIC) provides a wealth of opportunities for students interested in innovation and entrepreneurship. With strong business programs that emphasize business management, marketing, and entrepreneurship, AIC helps students establish a solid foundation for their future careers. These programs not only equip students with theoretical knowledge but also immerse them in real-world experiences that foster creativity, leadership, and strategic thinking.

One of the standout resources available to students is the Saremi Center for Career Development, which plays a crucial role in helping students transition from academics to the professional world. The center offers career counseling, résumé-building workshops, mock interviews, and networking events to help students prepare for job applications and career advancement. Additionally, the center facilitates internship placements, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in their fields of interest. These internships provide invaluable exposure to industry trends, business operations, and professional environments, helping students refine their career goals and develop essential workplace skills.

AIC’s business and marketing professors bring a wealth of industry experience into the classroom, teaching students critical skills such as project proposal development, business strategy, financial planning, and management concepts. Students learn the importance of market research, customer engagement, and brand management—key factors in running a successful business. Courses emphasize the role of innovation in business, encouraging students to think outside the box and develop unique solutions to industry challenges.

Entrepreneurship at AIC is not limited to coursework. The college encourages students to engage with professionals and build meaningful connections that can lead to mentorship opportunities, internships, and even potential business partnerships. Students are also given opportunities to work on real-world projects, develop business proposals, and participate in case studies that enhance their understanding of business dynamics. There are a ton of clubs that students can choose from.

Another essential component of AIC’s business programs is the emphasis on public speaking and communication skills, which are crucial for success in nearly every career. Many courses integrate presentations, pitches, and group discussions, helping students develop confidence in expressing their ideas. Effective communication is especially important for entrepreneurs who need to pitch their business ideas to investors, lead teams, and build strong relationships with clients.

Overall, AIC fosters an environment that promotes creativity, leadership, and entrepreneurial thinking. By offering a combination of academic learning, hands-on experiences, professional networking opportunities, and skill-building exercises, the college equips students with the tools they need to succeed in business and entrepreneurship. Whether students aspire to launch their businesses, work in corporate settings, or become industry leaders, AIC provides them with the resources and support necessary to achieve their goals. AIC also offers APEX. The course teaches students about taxes, buying a house, a car and getting a career after school.
<br />

<u>Encouraging Faculty Innovation and Entrepreneurship</u>
American International College (AIC) fosters a dynamic campus environment where students and faculty collaborate through various clubs and organizations. These groups provide opportunities for students to engage with their peers and professors outside the classroom, fostering a sense of community and intellectual growth. Some notable organizations include the Noonan Tutoring Center, which offers academic support to students, and the Yellow Jacket newspaper, where students and faculty can contribute articles, share opinions, and discuss important campus and global issues.

Despite the variety of clubs and extracurricular activities, AIC currently does not have a dedicated entrepreneurship club or workshop program. Establishing such an initiative would provide students with a space to develop business ideas, explore product creation, and learn valuable skills related to launching startups. An innovation or entrepreneurship club could encourage students to step outside their comfort zones, take creative risks, and collaborate on projects that could have real-world applications. Faculty members with expertise in business, marketing, and communications could serve as mentors, guiding students in developing entrepreneurial mindsets.

In addition to general academic clubs, AIC also offers specialized organizations tailored to specific majors. For example, students pursuing physical therapy can join various clubs designed to enhance their professional knowledge and networking opportunities. Those interested in fashion, modeling, and self-expression may find a welcoming community in F.A.C.E, a club that emphasizes inclusivity and diversity in the fashion world. Criminal justice majors can engage with like-minded individuals in the Criminal Justice Club, where they discuss industry trends, attend guest lectures, and explore career opportunities.

By continuing to expand its club offerings, AIC can further support student innovation and entrepreneurship. Encouraging students to think creatively and take initiative in their academic and extracurricular pursuits will prepare them for future careers and leadership roles. Establishing a creation-focused club would not only enhance the student experience but also align with AIC’s commitment to fostering a forward-thinking and inclusive educational environment.

<big><u>University Technology Transfer Function</u></big>

AIC does not have a dedicated Technology Transfer Office (TTO), but it offers several opportunities that indirectly support the transfer of knowledge, research, and innovation to real-world applications. One of the main avenues for this is through internships provided by the Saremi Center for Career Development, which allows students to gain hands-on experience with professionals in various industries. These internships expose students to practical applications of their studies and can inspire them to develop their own research initiatives or innovative projects.. While these internships may not be explicitly labeled as "technology transfer," they provide valuable real-world exposure. Encouraging students to engage in research-based internships can create an indirect pathway for technology commercialization and industry collaboration. For example, students working in biotech, media production, or business settings could help develop and promote innovative projects.In addition to internships, AIC has made significant investments in state-of-the-art technology and media production resources. The campus is equipped with brand-new Mac desktop computers, cutting-edge 3D printers, and a fully functional podcast and filming studio. These resources provide students with the tools they need to engage in creative and technological projects, whether for research, entrepreneurial endeavors, or academic assignments. Students interested in product design, digital media, or research-based innovation can use these facilities to develop, prototype, and refine their ideas.

Furthermore, AIC is highly engaged in marketing and digital storytelling, utilizing film, photography, and website content to create an inviting and engaging experience for prospective students. The college strategically integrates visual storytelling into its promotional efforts, making use of video production to highlight campus life, academic programs, and student success stories. This marketing approach not only helps attract new students but also provides a platform to showcase innovative projects and research happening on campus.

By combining internship experiences, advanced technology, and strong media marketing, AIC offers students an environment where they can gain the skills and knowledge necessary to translate academic work into practical, real-world applications. While the college may not have a formal technology transfer office, these elements together provide students with the foundation needed to explore innovation, research commercialization, and industry collaboration in meaningful ways.

<u><big>Facilitating University-Industry Collaboration</big></u>

One key suggestion is for students to collaborate with the Saremi Center and APEX professors. These resources could provide invaluable guidance, mentorship, and access to high-quality research sources that could help students launch their own research projects. This collaboration would help students realize their full potential by offering them not just academic knowledge but also practical insights from experienced professionals who can guide their growth and development.

Introducing a hackathon to the campus would be another great way to encourage innovation. Hackathons are a wonderful opportunity for students to dive into real-world problems, work together in teams, and come up with creative solutions in a time-sensitive environment. It would be a fun, engaging, and collaborative experience that could challenge students to think outside the box while providing them with a platform to showcase their skills.

Bringing in TED Talk speakers would also be a powerful way to inspire students and broaden their perspectives. TED Talks feature speakers from diverse backgrounds, offering students a range of ideas and insights on everything from cutting-edge technology to global social issues. These talks would help create a more dynamic, thought-provoking campus atmosphere, encouraging students to engage with topics beyond their immediate academic field.

In addition, launching an innovation program could allow students to truly show off their abilities, providing a structured way for them to develop and present their projects. This could range from research initiatives to entrepreneurial ventures, offering students a space to work on projects that demonstrate their creativity, problem-solving skills, and ability to take initiative. An innovation program would give students the chance to build something tangible and meaningful, empowering them to take ownership of their educational experience.

Lastly, involving industry partners in shaping academic programs could provide students with crucial insights into the skills and knowledge that are currently in demand in the workforce. These partners could collaborate with faculty to ensure the curriculum aligns with industry needs, helping to better prepare students for their careers. By incorporating practical, real-world expertise into the academic experience, AIC could offer a more relevant and forward-thinking education.

<u><big>Engaging with Regional and Local Economic Development Efforts</big></u>

American International College (AIC) has clearly established a strong foundation of community involvement, reflecting its commitment to supporting and giving back to the local area. The college’s educational outreach programs are a significant part of this, with students getting hands-on experience by observing teachers at local schools and even engaging in overseas teaching opportunities. This creates a dynamic relationship between AIC and local schools, where students can benefit from mentorship while giving back to the community in meaningful ways. By engaging with educational environments, students gain insights into the teaching profession while strengthening their ties with the community, helping to enhance local educational programs in the process.

Another key aspect of AIC’s community support is "Give Day." This annual event provides a way for students, alumni, faculty, and friends to come together and donate money to support various initiatives within the college. It fosters a sense of unity among those connected to AIC, helping to fund scholarships, improve campus resources, and enrich academic programs. This initiative shows the broader AIC community how small contributions can collectively make a significant impact on the growth and success of the institution.

Athletic teams at AIC are also playing an important role in supporting the college and its local community. By holding fundraisers to help cover equipment costs, student-athletes demonstrate leadership and responsibility while learning essential skills in teamwork and financial planning. These fundraisers are not only beneficial for the athletic programs but also strengthen the bond between the college and the surrounding community. Families, friends, and alumni are often involved in these events, creating a sense of camaraderie and school spirit.

Moreover, AIC’s athletes go beyond just supporting their own teams. They extend their involvement by assisting at local cultural events, such as shows at the local theater. Whether it’s helping with tickets, giving directions, or promoting the events, this involvement shows the students’ commitment to fostering a thriving, interconnected community. Their support of the local theater also highlights how student-athletes at AIC are invested in more than just their athletic endeavors—they are dedicated to strengthening the cultural fabric of the local area, offering their time and energy to ensure the success of local events.

These initiatives showcase the strong relationship between AIC and the local community, where students, faculty, and staff are actively involved in making a positive impact. Whether through educational outreach, fundraising efforts, or supporting local cultural activities, AIC demonstrates how a college can play a key role in not just developing students academically but also contributing to the betterment of the surrounding area.
Overview
Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) is a leading university located in Lima, Peru. It was founded on March 24, 1917, and has established itself as one of the top universities in Latin America. The PUCP's mission is to provide a comprehensive education, combining academic excellence with a commitment to ethical values and social responsibility. It follows Peruvian higher education standards while also adhering to its Catholic identity and values.

The main objectives of the PUCP are:
* Academic Excellence
* Research and Innovation
* Social Responsibility and Outreach

Members:
* Academic Staff: Over 3,000 professors
* Students: More than 25,000
* Undergraduates: Approximately 20,000
* Postgraduates: Around 5,000

Promoting Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship
The PUCP actively encourages student innovation and entrepreneurship through various programs and initiatives. Students can explore innovation and entrepreneurship (I&E) opportunities by taking part in courses, competitions, and projects organized by different university centers and faculties. One of the leading hubs for I&E at the PUCP is the Centro de Innovación y Desarrollo Emprendedor (CIDE), which supports students in developing their business ideas from conception to execution.

CIDE offers workshops, mentoring programs, and seed funding opportunities to help students create and grow their startups. In addition, the university hosts various entrepreneurship competitions, where students from diverse disciplines can collaborate and showcase their innovative solutions to real-world problems.

Students can also benefit from other initiatives like PUCP's technology transfer office, which helps translate academic research into marketable products and services. PUCP fosters a multidisciplinary environment, encouraging collaboration between engineering, business, and social science students to create impactful ventures.

Encouraging Faculty Innovation and Entrepreneurship
At PUCP, faculty members are encouraged to pursue innovation both inside and outside the classroom. The university promotes the development of entrepreneurial skills among faculty through specialized programs and partnerships with industry. Professors from different faculties work with students on research projects that have the potential to become scalable business ventures.

The university's research centers, like the Instituto de Ciencias de la Naturaleza, Territorio y Energías Renovables (INTE-PUCP), often partner with industries to solve contemporary challenges. This partnership between faculty and industry fosters innovation and creates opportunities for technology transfer and entrepreneurship among faculty members.

Actively Supporting the University Technology Transfer Function
PUCP provides numerous resources to support the transfer of technology and knowledge between academia and industry. The university's Office of Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property (OTTIP) is a key player in this process, working closely with faculty and students to patent their inventions and bring them to market. OTTIP also connects researchers with investors and companies interested in commercializing academic research.

Through collaborations with national and international organizations, PUCP has successfully helped launch startups that stem from academic research. These efforts not only benefit the university but also contribute to Peru's economic development by fostering innovation-driven businesses.

Facilitating University-Industry Collaboration
PUCP is committed to strengthening the relationship between academia and industry. The university collaborates with businesses and organizations in various fields, from engineering and technology to health sciences and social development. These collaborations are designed to bridge the gap between research and market needs, providing students and faculty with real-world experiences and opportunities for innovation.

One example is PUCP's collaboration with industries in the energy and environmental sectors, where the university's research centers work on sustainable technologies and solutions. PUCP also offers internships and practical training programs in collaboration with leading companies, giving students the chance to apply their knowledge in professional settings.

Engaging with Regional and Local Economic Development Efforts
PUCP plays an active role in contributing to regional and local economic development. Through its entrepreneurship and innovation programs, the university helps foster a culture of innovation in Peru. Initiatives such as CIDE and the OTTIP work to develop startups that address local challenges while also having the potential for global impact.

Additionally, PUCP collaborates with government agencies and non-profit organizations to promote sustainable economic development. By connecting academic research with practical applications, PUCP contributes to the growth of various sectors, including technology, energy, and social innovation, ultimately improving the quality of life in the region.
An alien from Jupiter, just landed on earth with a singular protocol: colonize earth.
An abrupt campaign to bring all earth settlers to his camp will get him lynched. If not, they'll prolly just view him mad and move on.
The alien needs to understand how earth operates and try to convince the settlers to think differently ...then gradually infiltrate.

That's my big plan to change the world!. My economics major is how I understand the operations of the world, my passion for design and systems thinking is my superpower for thinking unconventionally and rallying others to my camp while my computer science, maths major & minor work as my phenomenal change-making engines.
Project 1 - Design Thinking Workshop for HKBU community
Project Introduction
We would like to organize an engaging Design Thinking Workshop tailored specifically for the HKBU community! This workshop is designed to empower students and professors alike to embrace innovation, build confidence, and tackle real-world challenges in mental health and social innovation.

Through this hands-on experience, participants will dive into the five stages of Design Thinking—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test—while focusing on creative solutions for the well-being of our community. You’ll work collaboratively in small teams to explore pressing mental health issues, design user-centered solutions, and apply innovative strategies that can make a lasting social impact.

Whether the participants are new to Design Thinking or already familiar with its concepts, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding, develop new skills, and explore interdisciplinary approaches to addressing societal challenges. By the end of the session, they will have gained not only practical tools for problem-solving but also the confidence to implement their ideas within the HKBU community and beyond.

Tactics
*Promote the mindset of design thinking to the school community
*Promote social innovation to HKBU students
*Implement the project via workshops
*Try to reach out to several I&E courses in General Education

<br>

Project 2 - Animal Therapy for HKBU community
Project Introduction
Animal therapy, also known as animal-assisted therapy (AAT), involves interactions between patients and trained animals to promote emotional, social, and cognitive well-being. Animals can provide companionship, reducing feelings of loneliness and anxiety. Besides, interacting with animals can lower cortisol levels and increase serotonin, promoting relaxation.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of university life? Animal therapy might be just what you need! Interacting with therapy animals has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and feelings of loneliness, making it a fantastic way to enhance your mental well-being. Imagine spending time with a friendly dog or cuddling a calming cat while taking a break from studying or navigating campus life. These furry companions provide comfort, encourage mindfulness, and create a supportive atmosphere. Join us for upcoming events where you can connect with therapy animals and discover the positive impact they can have on your emotional health. Don’t miss this opportunity to unwind and recharge with the help of some amazing four-legged friends!

Tactics
*Conducting an animal therapy workshop is a powerful strategy to promote mental well-being among university students.
*Collaborate with HKAATA (Hong Kong Animal Assisted Therapy Association).
*An opportunity for the organisation to be exposed to the HKBU community.
*Participants will then have the chance to interact with the animals, allowing them to experience firsthand the calming effects of animal companionship.
*Effective promotion is essential. Utilizing social media, campus newsletters, and flyers will help spread the word about the workshop.
*Simple surveys can help gauge student satisfaction and interest in additional workshops or related events. This feedback can guide future programming, ensuring that the workshops continue to meet the needs of the student body.

<br>

Project 3 - Arts Tech Meditation Workshops
Project Introduction
The purpose for the Arts Tech Meditation Workshops is to incorporate innovative artistic technologies with healing practices such as meditation. In today’s busy world, these workshops will expose those people willing to seek out a place for relaxation, self-exploration, and the feeling of belonging. As we partner with local sound and art tech artists, we will develop and multi-sensory meditation space where sound, art, light and scents work together. They will receive a rare combination of meditation methods through the use of virtual reality for meditation and digital drawing in the attempt to look further into themselves.

Tactics
*Engage local sound designers and visual artists for a cohesive artistic vision.
*Conduct brainstorming sessions to align on themes and sensory elements.
*Design an immersive meditation space with adaptable sensory features.
*Include structured sessions for guided meditation, reflection, and sharing.
*Integrate VR technology to enhance the meditation experience.
*Provide digital drawing tools for creative expression.
*Promote workshops through community outreach and social media.
*Encourage participant engagement and collect feedback for continuous improvement.

<br />

Connect students with experienced mentors who can guide them in utilizing resources efficiently and effectively. Sessions that teach students how to use specific tools, technologies, and methodologies can be very useful. Industry connections can facilitate internship opportunities for students, enhancing their skills and employability.

<big>Strategy 3 : Global Exhibitions and Showcasing Opportunities</big>

Innovation labs can significantly enhance participation in global exhibitions and showcasing opportunities for students and faculty. Offering workshops on presentation skills, pitching, and communication can help participants effectively showcase their projects. Successful case studies and projects that have emerged from the lab, showcasing their impact and potential can be shared.

<big>Project 2 : Encouraging Skill-Swap Initiatives on Campus</big>

<big>Strategy 1 : Conduct Pop-up events</big>

Hosting a fair where students can set up booths to showcase skills they want to share and skills they wish to learn can promote enhanced learning. Social media can be used to promote the event and attract participants, using engaging visuals and testimonials.

<big>Strategy 2 : Skill Exchange Portal</big>

<big>Strategy 3 : Cross-Campus Integration</big>

Cross-campus integration can significantly enhance skill swap initiatives at a university by fostering collaboration, broadening access to diverse skills, and building a sense of community. Facilitate workshops led by students or faculty from different branches/campus, allowing for the sharing of diverse expertise.

<big>Project 3 : Establishing a Peer-Mesh on Campus</big>

<big>Strategy 1 : Cross-Department Peer Mentoring</big>

Cross-department connections can greatly enhance peer mentoring programs by facilitating diverse interactions, broadening perspectives, and fostering collaborative learning. Exposure to different fields can help students develop a broader understanding and apply concepts creatively across disciplines.

<big>Strategy 2 : Awareness about the facility</big>

Usage of posters, flyers, social media, and university websites to highlight peer mentoring opportunities, making them more visible to students. Sharing success stories from past participants through videos, blog posts, or social media can inspire others to join the network.

<big>Strategy 3 : Online Appointment Page</big>

An online appointment page can significantly enhance a peer mentoring network on campus by streamlining the process, improving accessibility, and fostering better communication. Students can easily schedule appointments with mentors at their convenience, reducing barriers to participation. The appointment page can serve as a centralized location for information about the mentoring program, including FAQs, mentor bios, and available skills.

<big>Project 4 : Establish an Exchange Centre on Campus</big>

<big>Strategy 1 : Social Events</big>

Game nights, casual gatherings can help students understand each other and encourages social interaction between students of diverse backgrounds. Learning can be made fun using programs curated to bring out the creative side in students.

<big>Strategy 2 : A hub for international students</big>

The hub can organize cultural events, such as international festivals or workshops, which foster understanding and appreciation among students from diverse backgrounds. The center needs to offer facilities that help international students acclimate to campus life and local culture, making them feel more comfortable and integrated.

<big>Strategy 3 : Collaboration and partnerships with foreign universities</big>

Establish consistent communication through scheduled meetings with foreign partners to discuss goals, share updates, and address any concerns. Joint degree programs or shared courses can be developed that allow students from both universities to learn together, either in person or through online platforms.

<br />
Fall 2022 Cohort
Project 1 : Encouraging a consistent culture of I&E on campus
Strategy 1: Bringing forth design thinking awareness through social hours online
To encourage increased participation in I&E activities, it is necessary to raise awareness on I&E concepts like design thinking. This can be achieved through social hours conducted online after college hours. It provides a casual and student-led environment for discussions and interactions with new peers. Listening to the opinions of students in a group environment also provides the opportunities to tailor design-thinking workshops to their needs. Social hours provide a more personalized pathway for creating awareness and building interest within the student body to sustain the other I&E strategies.<br />

Strategy 2 : Conducting pop-up workshops periodically with diverse groups
It is vital to have ongoing innovative or entrepreneurial learning opportunities to maintain consistency. This can be achieved through pop-up workshops that are conducted periodically around different locations on campus. Picking design-thinking themes led by UIF Fellows or I&E pathways related to a specific field led by faculties, we can provide the foundational knowledge needed to pursue a future in innovation and entrepreneurship. It is also an opportunity to spark interest and encourage the student body to view I&E as a valuable addition to their skills and the community.<br />

Strategy 3 : Promoting faculty - student interactions for I&E endeavors
The guidance required to start on an I&E journey can be provided by the experienced faculty on campus. Hence, increased collaboration and interaction between students and faculty is essential to illustrate the resources and feasibility for executing ideas into reality. Integrating faculty advice and their contributions to ongoing workshops and events can aid in building stronger relations between them and aspiring innovators.<br />
Strategy 4 : Encouraging participation through selective and choice-based events for networking
Events to explore innovative ideas and projects encourage more students to prioritize innovative and entrepreneurial learning. Some events can be selective as it is specifically catered to existing I&E enthusiasts with a strong motivation in the field. Designing events to cater to a select group of people can better address their needs. Some events can be choice-based where those who are unfamiliar with I&E concepts can explore and learn more about the field. These events cater to those who just began their I&E journey and want to learn and know more about what is involved.
Project 2 : Build an effective communication network and encourage collaboration among individuals on campus
Strategy 1: Form a student committee to organise engaging sessions for enhanced learning and interaction.
The growth of communication effectively highlights the value of teamwork. Establishing a strong network around campus and ensuring the involvement of students and faculty on campus would require a student committee with the right understanding and analysis of campus requirements.

Strategy 2: Encouraging individuals of various majors to work on collaborative projects.
Sharing creative ideas and similar concepts will encourage faculty and students to work together across disciplines. These collaborations would help promote the I&E culture on campus.

Strategy 3: Building a single, secured form of communication channel for individuals on campus.
All individuals on campus would impact from the design and implementation of a collaborative team effort through an online and secured form of communication channel in terms of simplicity, networking, clarity, and effectiveness.
Project 3 : Create opportunities for students for application of skills and creation of tech alongside classroom learning
Strategy 1: Spread awareness of importance developing practical skills among students along with practical guidance.
It is paramount that students understand the importance of developing practical skills and gaining an interest for creating solutions being in the field of Engineering. Spreading awareness of the same can be done introducing fun opportunities for students to experiment on their skills and by encouraging participation in project creation, idea generation competitions along with increasing the weightage of practical skills in evaluation of students.<br />

Strategy 2: Avail facilities and new space for students to work on their own projects.
Students having a designated space for working on their projects and creating new technological solutions would really ramp up I&E on campus. Students' employability would also be enhanced. This is a medium-long term plan.<br />

Strategy 3: Provide exclusive time in the college schedule for students to work on their projects.
Providing students with designated time for putting to practice what they've learnt in the curriculum would work wonders in fortifying their practical skills and the ability to apply their knowledge.

The organized time slot would also encourage students to utilize their time on campus more productively.
Project 4 : Help students and faculty to prioritize I&E alongside training and placements
Strategy 1: Organize idea pitching events including interested students and faculty
Most of the world changing ideas go in vain due to lack of recognition. Organising simple idea pitching events now and then can get them into the limelight and be a start of an innovation. Involving students AND the teacher community in the innovation process can help building a healthy atmosphere in and around the classroom.<br />

Strategy 2: Encourage students and faculty to work together on projects
Students and faculty working together on projects can bring crazy ideas and experiential knowledge on the same table. This can help in bringing out more groundbreaking and practical Innovation.<br />

Strategy 3: Encourage startup culture and organise investment campaigns
One of the major stage where majority of the startups and ventures fail is in finding funds. This is the part where entrepreneurs feel world's against them. We can provide an opportunity for the young entrepreneurs to find investors on the campus by organising investment campaigns every year just like we do campus recruitments. This could bring in more confidence in the student community to work on their innovation and help them to prioritise entrepreneurship alongside 9-5.

Fall 2020 Cohort
Project 1 : Building of courses with a main objective of expanding the I&E ecosystem
Strategy 1: Identify the strengths and weaknesses of students and strengthening it
An in depth understanding of students strengths and weaknesses will help us understand and build curriculum according to their needs. It will help us realize where most students need help and also which parts they find easier, this will help us focus more towards the points of improvements and also build a stronger and more focused course.

Strategy 2 : Instilling confidence in students with an idea and converting it into a business plan
Helping students understand the step by step process of how I&E as a concept works will be a key contributor in this course. Helping students get the basics and foundations right will help them convert their ideas into reality. Also helping them convert their ideas into a business model and plan will instill confidence in them and give them ground to stand on.

Strategy 3 : Reaching out to maximum students in college to promote I&E
As we move into a world where things change on seconds, it is very important to ride the wave of change and ensure we make the most out of it. With times even our work culture is changing and according to many, entrepreneurship is the future. Hence exposing as many students as possible to the curse will help young minds ride the wave and also might give them a chance to be part of the future or for that matter even good.

Project 2 : Imparting emotional intelligence in entrepreneurs who use empathy, problem-solving, and social skills to come up with solution and create strong relationships among communities
Strategy 1: Reaching out to the students to understand their thoughts and opinions in an approachable and amicable manner
It is said that we might be the masters of our minds, yet we are slaves to our emotions. Understanding and monitoring of emotions are essentials to any student preparing to take on the world. A great king must never seek out war, but must always be prepared for one, hence if one intends to conquer the world then understanding emotions and channeling them correctly is key. But no one is just ready to open up and share, hence approaching students correctly and comforting them can help them open up a bit more and can also help us understand how to help them better manage their best assets.

Strategy 2: Conducting awareness drives for all the students and helping them understand the essence of emotional stability
Awareness on topics like mental health and emotional stability is a forever ongoing operation. No matter how well we think we may know things, we are always going to need help. Spreading awareness and helping people understand the importance of help may just make them realize how important a concept mental health can be. It can also help them better understand what they are going through in many situations.

Strategy 3: Creating an interactive and engaging ecosystem on campus with skilled staff working on this agenda
On concepts relating towards emotions, feelings and mental health knowing how to help is different from helping. We need people who understand this difference and can bridge the gap here. Hence having skilled professional staff can be a huge advantage in these situations.

Project 3 : Set up a I&E Lab for students to test their ideas and Hold Semi-Annual conferences on I&E in association with ASPERA (E-Cell)
Strategy 1: Start small by setting up a lab and encouraging the ASPERA Community to participate
Having a space themed or designed with a specific purpose generally allows someone freedom to explore the theme and play around it to test what they can build. Most inventions made today were either mistakes or built in a specific themed place, we intend to offer both. This space can be a starter for dreams or a foundation for mistakes that may one day change the world.

Strategy 2: Conducting preliminary events to engage students beforehand
Creating awareness on this makerspace and its capabilities can help boost young minds to come and explore the space. Conducting events here will attract both students and experts to a single platform, thereby allowing interaction between achiever's and aspiring achiever's.

Strategy 3: Connecting students with established entrepreneurs to show them that their idea can be a reality
Role modelling has proven to be an incredible way to motivate people to achieve. Hence connecting students with their role models or people who have achieved success in their fields will make students either want to replicate them or beat them. This is will ensure growth of both the space and the students and might also allow students to be mentored by those who know and understand the industry.

Strategy 4: Encouraging students to participate in entrepreneurial activities which will help them lean more towards innovation rather than jobs
Allowing students to participate in such activities might inspire them to get into I&E and might push them to become entrepreneurs, which is the main goal of the program.

Project 4 : Creating an active mentorship and internship program to link our I&E course with corporate and entrepreneurship mindset
Strategy 1: Offering incentives to mentors in order to keep them motivated towards course objectives
A mentor empowers a person to see a possible future and believe it can be obtained, thereby having mentors stay with us throughout the program will be a key function in this idea, hence offering of small incentives might help them stay and help us grow as a program. Moreover offering mentors an incentive might even attract more mentors to join the program and help young minds out.

Strategy 2: Creating an effective ecosystem between mentors and mentees that promotes growth and knowledge enhancement
Ensuring both a mentor and a mentee see eye to eye and understand each other is crucial to the growth of an idea. This idea also focuses on creating an ecosystem or platform wherein both can come together not only to discuss an idea but also to understand each other and learn ethics of the business. Essentially the student has the opportunity to intern with their mentor and understand a plethora of things.

Strategy 3: Linking the experience with college through alumni network
College alumni serve as valuable resources in terms of personal experience and journey, hence finding a way to link the alumni network of the college with the idea could be an interesting breakthrough.

Fall 2019 Cohort
Project 1:&nbsp;Improvising the space for creativity and innovation
Strategy 1:&nbsp;Discussion with stakeholders.
In the stakeholders meeting, we will discuss with our stakeholders regarding the mobile makerspace and prototyping lab that has to be implemented to enrich the innovation space in our college.&nbsp;

Strategy 2:&nbsp;Creating a Mobile makerspace in the campus.
<div>With the available space in our college, we tend to implement mobile makerspace for innovation and creativity. Students can utilise these mobile spaces to prototype, build, innovate and implement any idea that they want to work on. These spaces can also be utilised by the faculty to build models which can be used in classroom education and academic purporses.</div>
Strategy 3:&nbsp;Renovate the existing space to prototyping labs.
<div>Mobile makerspace is a brilliant idea to implement in short time. But, to create a space that can fit more than 200 students, it takes a lot of time. Protyping labs can help improve and add additional features to what mobile makerspace provides. Even if students want to create props for an event, they can log into prototyping labs and work on it. In this tactic, we plan to integrate already existing spaces such as laboratories with prototyping environment to make it a better place for innovation. This reduces their time from travelling to shops and stores to buy the items and accessories to make a prop or a prototype.</div>
Project 2:&nbsp;Improve the understanding about banking sector and real world entity.
Strategy 1:&nbsp;Conduct a talk which gives information regarding real world entity like banking, income tax and consumer rights.
A talk provides a basic knowledge on what's important and necessary .It would include conversation where audience would be involved. Hence a to and fro talk is encouraged so as to make sure that students are educated.

Strategy 2:&nbsp;Create a blog and provide information on a weekly basis so that students can get updates regularly.&nbsp;
The information will be conveyed in a simple go for easy understanding and implementation. Since all the information are consolidated at one place, one can visit the blog at any time and get the updates.

Strategy 3:&nbsp;Conduct workshop where we provide practical approach through different tasks.
The information which is to be conveyed will be included in the different stages of tasks. The main aim of conducting workshop is to gain practical knowledge on real life entity.

Project 3:&nbsp;Improve the overall understanding on engineering topics.
Strategy 1:&nbsp; Conduct workshops on popular and potentially useful technologies
<div><div>Workshops and hands-on sessions will be conducted for the students on popular and potentially useful topics such as Aurdino, Raspberry Pi, IoT, Machine Learning, Photoshop and others to help broaden the skill set of these students.</div>
Strategy 2:&nbsp; Organise sessions and talks on non mainstream topics.
<div><div>There are many concepts which are not taught to the students but are still expected of them such as Google docs, sheets and slides or how to present a paper and other concepts. These concepts usually represent a gap between what the students know and what they are expected to know. The aim here is to bridge this gap.</div></div></div>
Strategy 3: Assign short term goals and projects on necessary topics.
Assigning short term goals to the students will provide them a path to follow so that they can achieve the required mastery over the necessary topics. The projects would help solve the problem of a lack of hands-on experience on the topics and would make sure their knowledge is not surface level.

Project 4: Help improve mental health to better student’s performance.
Strategy 1: Conduct workshop on Mental Health by Professional
<div><div>Workshops by a mental health care professional to the students on raising awareness of potential catalysts for stress and how to help identify a peer out of depression. Along with which help students self to develop the skills and resilience needed to overcome these triggers.</div>
Strategy 2: Include “stress-busters” in everyday learning sessions
<div>Although our routines make us more efficient and enhance our feelings of security and safety, a little change of pace can perk up a tedious schedule. To help main the creativity levels and break up the monotony stressbusters are essential. Stressbuster can include small fun activities and games which is inclusive of everyone. This helps in rejuanating the minds and increases the productivity.&nbsp;</div>
Strategy 3: Collaborating with mental health support organisation.
<div>As many students are hesitant to approach other students or even the college for help or support, we decided to link with mental health support organisations to help these students get the proper help that they need.</div>
Project 5: Provide financial assisstance to the students.
Strategy 1: Provide an opportunity for students to work as research assistants to the faculty.
<div>Research assistant is&nbsp; a very good job for students as it provides an opportunity to learn while also providing a method to sustain their financial needs. Having a research assistant is also very useful to the faculty as it reduces the burden on them. Our idea is to link the interested students and the faculty.</div>
Strategy 2: Providing an opportunity for students to teach students for financial gain.
<div>Many students learn better if some part of their curriculum is covered by other students or peers rather than the faculty. It leads to a better bonding between the peers while reducing the burden on the faculty. The idea is to have senior students teach their juniors some chapters or concepts for a small amount of money.</div>
Strategy 3: Provide on campus jobs.
<div>To support the students who have weaker financial backgrounds, on campus jobs can be provided. These jobs can be technical such as managing the database or non technical like library assistants.<br /></div><div>&nbsp;</div>
Fall 2018 Cohort
Project 1: Encouraging inter-disciplinary methods to enhance learning outcomes
Strategy 1: Implementing concept of Pick-a-Lane
Academic topics from different fields and branches are given to the students, where each student picks up a random topic and starts learning for the same. Given a week’s time, they come and give daily updates about their learning. After a week, the students realise whether they want to continue the same topic or choose another topic. They also share it with the other students and spread their ideologies about the topic they have prepared for. Topics are chosen such that they are beneficial to them, irrespective of their major.

Strategy 2: Initiate the notion of Learn and Build
A unique concept which focuses mainly on experimental learning through scalable hands-on models. Students are taught basic concepts which proves to be a necessity learning in their everyday life. These are concepts that are being learnt in the academics and made into models. This allows learning of core concepts along with it’s implementations, thereby ensuring a good foundation for them.

Project 2: Motivating the students to take up challenges and create a network.
Strategy 1: Helping students know the world! Broadcasting!!
Due to busy schedule, students often miss out on the important news, current affairs, upcoming and trending technologies, general knowledge which is a must for them. We can try to make sure that those students share their knowledge and information to their peers and ensure an environment where gaining on knowledge is at its peak.Videos relating to the above-mentioned topics will be shown to them. This will in turn enhance the learning outcomes.

Strategy 2: Having informal meetings, usually related to technology…Barcamp
Barcamp is a user generated conference, participatory where the content is provided by the participants. We have inter-disciplinary topics, where students can share plethora of ideas and views, making them more prone to the world of technology. We also conduct debates and/or after each session, which enhances student interest and keen participation. Hand-outs of the key points will be given at the end of the session for them to look up to. The above two strategies ensures that students mingle with students of other branches as it involves them to interact with other individuals and know about their ideologies as well.

Project 3: Improvising their experience technically
Strategy 1: Helping them understand concept in a much efficient way, Conceptual Learning using Each One Teach One technique
We teach the concepts applicable to students through models & simulations to make them understand it’s working. The models are hand-made, and the simulations are tested for compatibility on all basis i.e., it can be understood by a beginner as well as novice/professionals. We give a chance to everyone to share their knowledge of a subject/concept/topic to the audience. This is made so that everyone is allowed an opportunity to show-case their knowledge as well as an opportunity to teach. Individuals/Students often understand when they are taught by their friends or peers. Taking this idea into consideration, we have introduced a new way of helping students learn the concepts better.

Strategy 2: Spreading awareness about the present technology by implementing the innovative idea of Teach the Trending Technology
Students usually come across a scenario where they have no idea of the conversation on the topic on technology. To overcome this situation which is due to lack of our knowledge on the subject matter, teach the trending technology is planned so that everyone is updated what’s happening in the current world. This is implemented through informative sessions, video tutorials & a few hands-on sessions.

Project 4: Eliminating the mental and physical stress
Strategy 1: Innovative means of providing information to students by conducting Knowledge Charades.
We know that students these days are unaware of current affairs lack general knowledge & the new ways of learning such as cyber hunt etc. So we came up with the improvisation of dumb-charades called the knowledge charades in which the students will be enacting anything related to a famous personality or a new trend/topic that is worth sharing. After the students guess the right answer, unknown facts and mind striking information about the topic/personality will be shared, thereby making way for fun-learning.

Strategy 2: Encouraging students to dream big and to have a vision through their ideas and discover their crafty skills.
Here students can come up with their crazy ideas to change something in this society irrespective of whether it can be implemented or even given a thought about it, and share or present it to others and get their insight about it. They can get crafty and explain their ideas through their work. This helps students in developing their imaginary and creative skills.

Strategy 3: Introducing them to the world of Literature.
Students can also express themselves through their poems, articles and short stories make use of this opportunity to share it with others. We give them inspirational books to read and this in turn inculcates values in them. After reading a story they share it with those who would rather prefer listening than reading. They can also enact small plays which enhances their innovative skills.
Bio
Hello, my name is Olamide (O-la-mih-day), but feel free call me Ola. I'm an undergraduate student and freelance radio host at University of Galway. Like many of us, life for me has been full of ups and downs, trials and tribulations and everything in between. Growing up, I struggled with my mental health and overall sense of direction in life. Don't worry, this isn't a long winded sob story, I'm just providing you, dear reader, with the context from which you're meeting the Ola you see today. The COVID-19 pandemic was a challenging time for us all. However, it was during that period of global stand-still and mandated isolation that I decided that I would use all my pain to fuel a passion to help people who have struggled, people like you and me. But first, I had to help myself.

Helping myself started with further exploring my relationship with God, receiving counselling, going back to college and developing meaningful relationships. All of which were incredibly difficult at first, I must admit. After a few years of wrestling with who I used to be, I won a few rounds and my confidence started to grow. I rediscovered my appetite for growth and worked on maximising my life satisfaction by opening myself up to as many value-adding experiences as possible. These experiences helped me better understand myself, what I want and how I can contribute to society. I started going to church, applying myself at university and volunteering with charities. At university, I connected with the chaplaincy and completed the Seas Suas training to support student wellbeing, I discovered the IdeasLab and completed entrepreneurial development programmes like CreateHER, and I even started a radio-show podcast, LOMAH, which amplified creatives in my community and engaged with difficult topics on the human condition. I started to feel alive again, and believed I was ready to expand and offer support beyond myself. I volunteered with Jigsaw, a mental health charity and became an advocate for youth mental health. I facilitated philosophical inquiry for first year students via a peer-assisted learning programme and I held LIFT roundtable discussions on positive leadership with other students at university. Hey, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, I also experienced some hard times and failures but I had learned to no longer let those define me and accepted them as part of the vicissitudes of life. So, where I am at now?

Over the years, I've come to learn that fulfillment is derived from pursuing a life marked by purpose and harmony. So fueled by a desire to help others , I aim to create a career that integrates the different dimensions of the human experience and thereby foster cohesion. I am particularly interested in the intersection between Faith or philosophy, psychology, creativity and innovation. My experience facilitating communities of philosophical inquiry helped me to realise the importance of supporting people to 'become' rather than just 'do'. I believe that what we do should stem from who we are and as we work on becoming, whatever that may look like for each individual, what we do will naturally follow and vice versa. I see the UIF as another step on the journey of the becoming-doing paradigm. I would like to help students to discover their potential and become the best version of themselves. I believe this can be achieved by cultivating a community of curiosity and creativity, where students can work together, learn from each other, solve problems and be equipped with the skills required to excel within themselves, at university, in the market place and beyond.

So, I've been Ola, who are you? Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn. I'd love to hear your story and support your dreams in any way I can. Thank you for coming to my TED talk :D.

Matthew 29:37-39 "Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself'"
Achievements
• President's Award for Innovation and Entrepreneurship 2024: Silver medal recipient.

• Winning Team of IdeasLab Enterprise Challenge 2024: Successfully developed a sustainability project to streamline Boston Scientific' s distribution process.
The University of North Florida
The University of North Florida (UNF) is a nationally ranked university located in the scenic Northeastern Florida city of Jacksonville. Composed of six colleges of distinction, the University currently has an enrollment of nearly 17,000 students and employs more than 500 full-time faculty as well as over 1,000 staff members.

Promoting Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship
UNF is an emerging center for entrepreneurship in Jacksonville, and in Northeast Florida. UNF’s Coggin College of Business is primarily responsible for the increased emphasis on entrepreneurship and innovation. Most recently, after a $1 million dollar donation, UNF created the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

<div>The UNF Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) is open to 15 start-up companies per year where entrepreneurs undergo a year-long development program at the 13,000-square-foot living, learning lab, located in the center of downtown Jacksonville in the Barnett National Bank Building. The CEI is a space available to any students in business, engineering, health, education, and arts and sciences, providing access to necessary services and living-learning lab space to help foster start-up growth. Some of the provided resources include developing business plans, finding student interns for support, professional advising, and networking. Involved entrepreneurs are also able to propose their ideas to a local panel of experts who have applied to support UNF's CEI. In 2022, the CEI sponsored events such as the Innovation Challenge Week sponsored by Crowley and Community First and the Swisher Growth Pitch Competition which specifically helps minority entrepreneurs.

The Coggin College of Business also offers a minor in entrepreneurship that all students have the opportunity to partake in. The minor itself is predominantly business-oriented but does offer courses that teach creativity and design thinking. This minor coincides with the 200 registered student organizations on campus, one of which is the Entrepreneurs, Creators, and Innovators club. In addition, UNF offers courses such as GEB4942: Entrepreneurial Internship, which stimulates innovation and allows students to gain real-world experiences in entrepreneurial business. Other courses such as MAN4294: Creativity and Innovation in the Workplace, teach students how to have a creative mindset when exploring different possibilities in complex and uncertain environments. There may be an opportunity to expand the number of clubs or students involved with social innovation because the UNF Student Government, which has an annual budget of roughly $4.5 million dollars, just announced the creation of a new Student Involvement Center.

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is one of the ways UNF encourages student innovation and entrepreneurship through funding a variety of different research-based projects. The final way that UNF encourages student innovation and entrepreneurship are through Transformational learning opportunities (TLOs). TLOs may take a myriad of forms that include study abroad experiences, service-learning experiences, research/directed independent study experiences with a faculty member, and leadership experiences.

Encouraging Faculty Innovation and Entrepreneurship:&nbsp;
</div>The University of North Florida does not offer a tremendous amount of resources for faculty interested in entrepreneurship and innovation. The Office of Faculty Enhancement hosts the Teaching Innovation Institute every summer. The institute focuses on redesigning an existing course of developing a new course while involving innovative instructional strategies. The interdisciplinary focus of the institute allows for all faculty and department teams to participate, underlining the opportunity for innovation and entrepreneurship to become a university-wide point of focus.&nbsp;

UNF also has an Office for Research & Sponsored Programs&nbsp;(ORSP) which assists faculty in complying with university, federal, state, and funding agency guidelines, rules, and regulations during budget preparation when determining costs applicable to grants, contracts, and other agreements. If a faculty member would like to involve a student, or students, with their research, students are eligible to apply for an undergraduate research grant through the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR). Students can receive up to $3,500 in funding towards research-related expenses.&nbsp;

UNF also offers a Faculty Scholarship Development Grant&nbsp;sponsored by Academic Affairs to help support research, scholarship, and creative activities generated by faculty. The grant are seen as seed funding for developing, publishing and writing new research, and experimenting with new forms of creative expression. Academic Affairs offers $7500 per funded individual, or $10,000 each for up to three faculty members working together on selected multidisciplinary projects. This money goes towards travel, materials, student assistance, or other expenses related to project activities.

These opportunities include designing and presenting forums or workshops on current topics, supporting faculty development initiatives, as well as organizing faculty development materials related to teaching and learning, and serving as facilitators during faculty development summer institutes.

<br />

Actively Supporting the University Technology Transfer Function:&nbsp;
UNF views technology transfer as an aspect of community engagement, a value that is highly rooted in the history of this university. Through the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (ORSP), and the amazing work by John Kantner, Cheresa Boston, Rosalyn Gilbert, and the rest of the staff, there is a good foundation for ideas to move into something bigger. UNF's Intellectual property is normally transferred to the private sector, after the right procedures are taken into place that will allow corporations to develop new or updated services with the common goal of enhancing the community and it's quality of life. Through marketing and licensing activities, ORSP brings technology forward to public use and for the benefit of the inventor, the University, and the community. Income is generated for both the inventor and the University through licensing agreements, and ORSP encourages agreements with local and regional companies. ORSP and the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation have been working in conjunction with to advance idea development and technology transfers.&nbsp;A successful transfer from a university almost always requires a partnership with a private sector, which makes this a very exciting partnership for all parties.

This relationship between university and private sectors can also go the other way where a company takes advantage of the research and development (R&D) Collaboration that UNF has to offer. R&D collaboration allows for a partnership that comes full circle by gaining the ability to use the universities research and capabilities to add to a product or service that could go out to help the community in a multitude of ways. All research and partnerships are conducted under appropriate and approved on agreements to protect the rights of all parties involved.

A successful transfer from a university almost always requires a partnership with a private sector, while a corporation can gain assistance in improving and tailoring a product to Jacksonville, which makes this a very exciting partnership for all parties.

Facilitating University-Industry Collaboration:&nbsp;
In recent years, UNF has continued to expand and further develop relationships with external organizations and corporations. For example, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation&nbsp;has partnered with the Life Sciences Incubator at Mayo Clinic, Beaver Street Enterprise, PS27 Ventures, Source Fuse, The Jim Moran Institute, and the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce’s Center for Entrepreneurial Growth. In addition, four of the 15 ideas selected by the incubator this year relate to the healthcare and technology industries. This is incredibly important because Baptist Health, Florida Blue, and the Mayo Clinic are three of the largest employers in Jacksonville.&nbsp;
<div></div>

<div><div><br /></div><div>Another major aspect of developing private-public relationships is UNF’s continued dedication to earning the Carnegie Foundation “Community Engagement” designation. The University has established numerous public outreach and community partnerships that include the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, HandsOn Jacksonville, Public Opinion Research Lab, Small Business Development Center, Center for Community Initiatives, Volunteers in Medicine, and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Center for Ethics, Public Policy, and the Professions. These community partnerships allow faculty members, and dedicated student assistants, to utilize their disciplinary expertise to produce “applied scholarship” that directly addresses an array of regional concerns.&nbsp;<br />

</div>The Andrew A. Robinson School of Communication's initiative called Campaigns is a great example of the university's dedication to facilitating industry collaboration. Senior students on the Public Relations major track design and carry out a full scale PR campaign for a local Jacksonville non-profit. This allows UNF students to gain experience working with a client and gain hard skills for their resumes but also gives back to the community. <div>
Engaging With Regional and Local Economic Development Efforts:&nbsp;
<br />The University of North Florida has an annual economic impact of nearly $1 billion on the regional economy. Despite this general impact, the university is committed to contributing to the growth of the regional economy through specialized initiatives, institutes/centers, and programs. One of the University’s largest center is The Florida Small Business Development Center at the University of North Florida&nbsp;(SBDC). With funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration, the University of North Florida, the City of Jacksonville, the Clay County Chamber of Commerce, Marion County, Nassau County, St. Johns County, Putnam County, Suwannee County and other public and private sector sources, the Florida SBDC at UNF is able to provide its management assistance services at little or no charge to the client. SBDC programs deliver up-to-date management advice, training and information to help business owners make sound decisions and to assist potential owners in getting started on the right foot. For every federal dollar invested in the SBDC program, nearly $10 is returned in the form of tax revenue.&nbsp;
<div><br /></div></div>

UNF has now created an entire cycle of support for aspiring innovators by offering courses on entrepreneurship, to the new Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation for start-ups, to the SBDC for growing small businesses. Together, these resources will allow the university and local community to continue to grow. The Northeast Florida Coastal Research and Education Corridor is a regional connection that allows students, faculty, and visitors alike the opportunity to learn about their coastal ecosystems through seminars, conducting research, field studies, etc.

With a sponsorship from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, the university has constructed the Coggin Executive Mentor Program. This program is designed to enhance the classroom experience by linking students with leading executives for one-on-one mentoring. Mentors share career advice and valuable insight into the transition from college to work. Students build career networks and develop skills to become better professionals and leaders.

A similar but different program, Community Alliance for Student Success (CASS), is a program and community that was created to serve traditionally underrepresented students. Students are paired with experienced minority members, including industry leaders and local business owners to learn about job opportunities and network in Jacksonville.

UNF MedNexus has a medical technology innovation lab that promotes students to work side by side with researchers and MedNexus partners. Students will be working with the MedNexus healthcare workers to detect cancer proteins in tissues before tumor formation and to detect other serious diseases early. The lab has a Mass Spectrometer microscope and a 3D Biomedical Print Lab. https://www.unf.edu/UNFmednexus/
</div>

A regional source that UNF interacts with in order to provide a financial opportunity to students is Bright Futures, which is a merit- and service-based scholarship awarded to students by the state of Florida for their academic achievement and community involvement during their high school years. UNF also recognizes that financial assistance is one of the biggest barriers to students completing a four-year degree and offers Competitive and Decentralized Scholarships promoted through their Student Government.

Additionally, through Handshake, the official career and internship platform of UNF, and Career Services, students can browse internships and jobs to connect with opportunities online. This can be done generally or sorted into opportunities within your field/ major/ college. Handshake can also be used for networking and professional development.
