After having analyzed our scenario and having talked to many students and part of the university staff we can say that most of the students who have an idea for a start up or a venture do not continue with it for several reasons. In addition to the previous point another problem we see is that students are not aware of the tools that the university provides us, for example open lectures, workshops, different labs we have, coworks, etc.

The numbers of ventures and projects per year in PDE and Salto are very worrying, in both campuses we have an average of 1 venture every 2 years.

After analyzing the surveys and consulting with students, we identified that one problem in taking their ideas forward and sharing them with others is a team to back them up. Students need an environment where they can grow and work with others.
In this sense the university offers very different careers, we could take advantage of that and help students to relate with others who share an interest in their project and can complement each other.

==Promoting student innovation entrepreneurship==

The Universidad Catolica del Uruguay strongly believes that innovation and entrepreneurship are important values that every student should have, along with the skills and knowledge to be able to analyze the environment in which they live and create solutions. The university provides support and spaces to any student who has the desire to undertake, in addition to the incentive to those who have not ventured to try it yet.

As part of this proposal of the university, open lectures and talks are frequently held where students can see and learn how to innovate and acquire the necessary skills to do so.

Within each career, courses are offered where they can develop small projects with the possibility of becoming a startup in a controlled environment where they have continuous support from the teachers in whatever they need.

==Encouraging faculty innovation and entrepreneurship==
An event called "UCU Week" is also held once a year, where students can participate and get involved with the city through workshops and activities, solving problems, trying new things and, above all, working in teams that are transversal to the degree course they are studying.

For people from first grade, there is a proyect obligatory for everyone transversal to all the subjects called ``ABP`` in spanish Aprendizaje en Base a Proyectos. In this proyect you have to create a innovative solution for some problem of the topic selected by the university for that year.

==Facilitating university-industry collaboration==

The university has some subjets that collaborate in the relationshit between university-industry for example, Entrepreneurship, Human Talent Management, Leadership and Transformation, Geographic information systems and innovation, COIL, Strategic Marketing, Design Thinking, Marketing Digital, etc. All this subjects make that the students were more related to innovation, entrepreneurship and the most important part is that the students go out of the university with more experience in the world of Business and compnies, what is very important for the laboral market.

==Engaging with regional and local economic development efforts==
in Punta del Este and in Salto we have a lot of differents places were you can go with an a idea to see if they can help you to develop it for example in Salto you have centro comercial, Centro Pymes, Salto emprendedor.

In the other hand from Punta del Este you have a few more, they are: Maldonado Emprendedor and Start-up Cowork cafe.

Geronimo Perdomo is a student at Catholic University of Uruguay, he is studying in his first year of the major in Business and Economy.

He is born, raised and currently living at a city called Punta del Este, Maldonado, Uruguay.
Since he was a child is very interested about everything, askying everything about everything, art, cience, math, history, sports, etc, He consider that he is an a generalist.

Apart from that he is very apassionated from sports in general, along all his life he had practiced a lot of them and he still do a lot of sports, one of his favourite part of it is share good moments with friends.

He is always organizing acitivities, social events and more. He is very sociable for that he loves been always related to a lot of people of all the ages, nationalities, religions, etc.

For him is very important this UIF program because he considers that he will learn fundamental tools for his life, help a lot of people and for any entrepreneurship that he will do.

==Achievements==

If he had to talk about his achievements, everyone talks about their achievements of their student life or their working life, he has a few of them but he wants to talk about this biggest achievement of his life that was help to his sister to go out of a mental illness called depression, nowadays he is very grateful with life because now she is okay, with a lot of help of him and of professionals and she beeing VERY strong, she was able to won to that horrible illness.

If he had to talk about his achievements, everyone talks about their achievements of their student life or their working life, he has a few of them but he wants to talk about this biggest achievement of his life that was help to his sister to go out of a mental illness called depression, nowadays he is very grateful with life because now she is okay, with a lot of help of him and of professionals and she beeing VERY strong, she was able to won to that horrible illness.

Geronimo Perdomo is a student at Catholic University of Uruguay, he is studying in his first year of the major in Business and Economy.

He is born, raised and currently living at a city called Punta del Este, Maldonado, Uruguay.
Since he is a child is very interested about everything, askying everything about everything, art, cience, math, history, sports, etc, He consider that he is an a generalist.

Apart from that he is very apassionated from sports in general, along all his life he had practiced a lot of them and he still do a lot of sports, one of his favourite part of it is share good moments with friends.

He is always organizing acitivities, social events and more. He is very sociable for that he loves been always related to a lot of people of all the ages, nationalities, religions, etc.

For him is very important this UIF program because he consider that he will learn fundamental tools for his life, help a lot of people and for any entrepreneurship that he will do.

While reading this article, the first thing that came to my mind was the video sent to us at Your Mission stage. The name of the video I mean is "Derek Sivers First Follower: Leadership Lessons from Dancing Guy ". I was very impressed by that video and this article. Especially in this program process, we will need to motivate people in our own universities, similar to the example given in this text. In this process, if we can't find people to support us or if people say bad things about our ideas, I'll save the link to this article so that we can read this article as a team :). I hope many UIF candidates come across this article and they can continue their studies in a more motivated way.
