<span style="font-size:larger;">Brie Thompson is a University Innovation Fellow and is a Business Administration Major at Morgan State University (MSU). She is currently a senior and will be graduating in May 2017. She is originally from Baltimore County, but also grew up in Frederick County, MD. Brie is involved on campus in extracurricular activities. Aside from University Innovation Fellows, she serves as the President of the American Marketing Association (AMA) which is a national organization focusing on connecting marketing professionals and providing resources to them. She is also in her school's Graves's Honors Program, which is an honors business program that allows students to gain hands-on experience with business corporate partners.</span>

<span style="font-size:larger;">During a student organization fair that Brie had attended in hopes of spreading the word about her marketing club, she decided to browse amongst the other organizations. She came across the University Innovation Fellows table, and was instantly curious. It was then that she asked on of the Fellows manning the table about the program and the benefits. After hearing all of the wonderful improvements these students were making on their campus, she was excited to get involved and signed up immediately. </span>

<span style="font-size:larger;">Brie joined Innovation Fellows to put her creativity to good use as well as to network with a diverse group of students nationwide. She genuinely loves helping and mentoring people. She has always been an advocate for teaching people how to help themselves; this way she can ensure they will be independent and eventually be able to provide for themselves. Brie also loves children and hopes to one day in the near future open her own daycare, where she can apply this philosophy to the next generations to come. Two of her favorite quotes are "The most powerful thing we have in life is choice" and "No pressure, no diamonds". These remind her that she can always make a difference, and leaving her comfort zone can have great reward. </span>

The Morgan State Landscape Canvas provides sufficient amount of programs and seminars to get students on campus aware of entrepreneurship and innovative thinking. The issue on campus is students don’t feel empowered enough to voice their opinions. There’s a lack of interdisciplinary spaces that let students from different backgrounds come together and collaborate ideas and projects. The labs and facilities our school has are exclusive and only a few know about the resources. Morgan State is an HBCU, a school with strong culture and traditions. The students here have a different ways of learning and progressing within the academic curriculum. We need to develop an effective approach to get students involved and gear them towards an innovative mindset.</span></span>

Keeping in mind that Morgan State is an overall commuter school, we should make resources accessible for all students with hours that are convenient for all. Most of the commuter students have heavy schedules and are balancing full-time work schedules while having part-time or full-time course loads. They support all faculty and students that partake in research within the labs and facilities. They focus on intellectual property issues that may be concerning an individual. The purpose of The Office of Technology Transfer is</span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(77, 64, 60); vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">to serve as a fully integrated center, structured to manage Morgan State’s intellectual property, fulfill the university's federal obligations, interact with industry to commercialize university intellectual property, foster economic development, and ultimately increase Morgan State’s resources to support its strategic goals. The students and researchers need to know all the rules and regulations to take their creations and discoveries to the industry smoothly and properly, and with the help of the Office of Technology Transfer, Morgan State can accomplish that.</span>

Morgan provides a few options to students who need help making the transition into the industry. The Center for Entrepreneurship and Strategy focuses on supporting  start-up entrepreneurs in getting the right advice and helping with longevity and success. Director, Robert Singh, PhD., who is apart of this big movement, is a big believer in inclusive entrepreneurship and would like to make incubators for young entrepreneurs and training. The Earl G. Graves Business Building, which is the newest addition at MSU, will be the location of many of these spaces and tools.</span>

This is the biggest partnership Morgan (since 2004) has that focuses on bettering the community by research and findings based on the community needs. It is located near the Patuxent River in Saint Leonard, Maryland. The laboratory capabilities include Benthic, Pelagic & Nearshore Monitoring, Water Quality Monitoring, Power Plant & Industrial Compliance, Hyperspectral Remote Sensing, GIS in Coastal Waters, Quantitative Analysis & Modeling, Natural Resource Economics, and Population and Community Ecology. We need to ensure the lab is being utilized at its fullest potential and if there is needs for improvement, we need to gather funds from sponsors to help the community grow.</span></span>

Destiny Bond is an Electrical Computer Engineer major with a double minor in Screen Writing Animation and Computer Science.  Through out her matriculation at Morgan State University she has been a member    of many organizations such as National Society of Black Engineers, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Globemed serving as the Director of Communications, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. serving as the Regional Maryland State Facilitator, Parliamentarian and Financial Secretary. While maintaining membership and leadership positions   in various organizations, she has also been a part of the women’s Bowling since her Sophomore year.  With her degree, she would like to one day make her own line of cartoons and video games something as big as Cartoon network to help mentor, guide, and motivate young female engineers.  For community service she loves to mentor the youth. After participating in many mentoring opportunities for the youth, Destiny saw the need of support, financial assistance, and exposer to our  younger generation. Destiny has a passion for helping other causing her to start a non profit organization entitled Destined For Greatness.  One day she hopes to provide assistance through donating materials  that are needed for school such as school supplies, uniforms, etc.  She would like to provide more assistance and resources to students so that they are familiar with the process on how to apply and what schools are available so that they could attend and have a brighter future
