The WSU College of Business hosts the Business Plan competition. The competition exists to give student entrepreneurs the opportunity to practice business in a real-world setting. The Business Plan Competition is key to rounding out academic and outreach efforts—bridging theory and application for students who participate.

Amber Graviet is a junior at Washington State University studying Chemical Engineering. She plans to graduate May 2015 with her degree. Within her three years in college, Amber has become very involved in the engineering community at WSU. She has taken leadership roles within the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and in the Society of Women Engineers. In her roles as a leader she has helped to bridge the gap between industry and college students by running the SWE Mentor Program. Amber is also involved in other groups and programs within her university such as the WSU Honors College and Harold Frank Entrepreneurship Program.

They are held in the spring and run the first 6 weeks into the spring semester. The background of the speakers are varied and they offer valuable insight of various topics. This program is limited to students that are taking specific courses at WSU. The goal would be to open this up to all disciplines on the campus and give students within STEM programs the oppertunities to gain the same knowledge.

The goal is make students more aware of courses within this program that available to them.

If an innovation space is created on the WSU campus it will help to promote excitement in STEM programs and will inspire students to reach beyond the classroom. A plan of action has already been taken on the WSU campus to make this feasible. A proposal by a Professor has been submitted to the University for approval of a particular space of campus that will accommodate the needs of students and centered in the engineering hub. With this plan moving forward a space should be obtained and ready for use next year.

WSU this hosting its first TedX. The goal would be to continue this event annual. TedX offers WSU the opportunity to create a community on our campus and share thoughts on innovation to inspire the next generation. Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is a global movement that helps to inspire people everywhere to unleash their creativity and to take the steps into an innovated journey. During one week each November, the Global Entrepreneurship Week hosts several activities locally, nationally, and gobally to help promote people to reach their potential as innovators. The activites range from large scale activities to inimate networking gatherings. Most of these events help to connect people to new possibilities and oppertunities. Several entrepreuners have be invovled with GEW, such as: Richard Branson, Virgin Group; Michael Dell, Dell Computers; Muhammad Yunus, Grameen Bank (and winner of Nobel Peace Prize); Dennis Crowley, Foursquare; Blake Mycoskie, TOMS Shoes; Mark Cuban, serial entrepreneur & NBA owner; Russell Simmons, Def Jam Records; Snoop Dogg and others.

History:

The GEW was first started up in November 2007 with 37 countries were involved in the startup of the movement. Within a year host organizations in 77 countries signed up for the campaign with 3 million people that participated in 25,022 activities and events. Since November 2007 the number of countries that are participating has increased to 138 countries. In the year of 2013, 7.43 million people participated in Global Entrepreneurship Week and 24,008 partner organizations conducted at least one activity, event or competition during Global Entrepreneurship Week. <o:p></o:p>

Within a year host organizations in 77 countries signed up for the campaign with 3 million people that participated in 25,022 activities and events. Since November 2007 the number of countries that are participating has increased to 138 countries. In the year of 2013, 7.43 million people participated in Global Entrepreneurship Week and 24,008 partner organizations conducted at least one activity, event or competition during Global Entrepreneurship Week. <o:p></o:p>

Global Entreprenuersip Week (GEW) is a global movement that helps to inspire people everywhere to unleash their creativity and to take the steps into an entrepruenerial journey.
