This past summer, he finished his graduate placement with St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. This year (his final year of graduate school), he will work with the veteran community at the Boise VA Medical Center. Before attending Boise State University, Alexander worked with students on the Autism Spectrum for a year and a half. Afterwards, he lived in Japan for four years, teaching English to junior high school students in one of Japan's smallest cities. Despite his short time there, he has continued to develop numerous lifelong relationships with teachers, students and members of the community. Currently, one of Alexander's passions is his research into cutting edge therapeutic interventions that use emerging technologies to treat PTSD. He is also interested in working with schools to develop support systems that can effectively increase retention of gifted students and is working with other students to develop a set of guidelines for the growth of Boise State University's makerspace culture. When he is not studying, Alexander can be found playing with his Corgi, studying Japanese, reading Science Fiction or playing video games with his wife. *ENGR 130 involves a service project where students work with a client from the community to apply the engineering design process to solve a problem&lt;br /&gt;
*While some design thinking is already a part of these courses, there could be room for the addition of more explicitly human-centered design principles into the curriculum&lt;br /&gt;
*This could also be a platform to introduce engineering students to entrepreneurship concepts to which they may not otherwise be exposed&amp;amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;

*The Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program unites undergraduate education and faculty research in a team-based context&lt;br /&gt;

*The Boise State University VIP program is part of a broad national and international consortium of universities&lt;br /&gt;
*While this program already exists in an early phase, more work remains to create campus-wide awareness about the vision and purpose of Vertically Integrated Projects in order to attract students and faculty to participate in current and new projects&lt;br /&gt;
*This program presents an inherent opportunity for a culture of I&amp;amp;E to thrive in a community of students and faculty from different disciplines across campus&lt;br /&gt;
*VIP projects differ from a traditional research lab setting in that the experiences, interests, and abilities of all members - faculty and students alike - are valued equally&lt;br /&gt;
*Close-knit VIP teams provide an opportunity to support vulnerable populations of students who might not finish their degrees without a supportive community and mentorship opportunities&lt;br /&gt;

*ENGR 130 involves a service project where students work with a client from the community to apply the engineering design process to solve a problem&lt;br /&gt;
*While some design thinking is already a part of these courses, there could be room for the addition of more explicity human-centered design principles into the curriculum&lt;br /&gt;
*This could also be a platform to introduce engineering students to entrepreneurship concepts to which they may not otherwise be exposed&amp;amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;

*The Boise State University VIP program is part of a broad national and international consortium of universities&lt;br /&gt;

This past summer, he finished his graduate placement with St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. This year (his final year of graduate school), he will work with the veteran community at the Boise VA Medical Center. Before attending Boise State University, Alexander worked with students on the Autism Spectrum for a year and a half. Afterwards, he lived in Japan for four years, teaching English to junior high school students in one of Japan's smallest cities. Despite his short time there, he has continued to develop numerous lifelong relationships with teachers, students and members of the community. Currently, one of Alexander's passions is his research into cutting edge therapeutic interventions that use emerging technologies to treat PTSD. He is also interested in working with schools to develop support systems that can effectively increase retention of gifted students and is working with other students to develop a set of guidelines for the growth of Boise State University's makerspace culture. When he is not studying, Alexander can be found playing with his Corgi, studying Japanese, reading Science Fiction or playing video games with his wife. &lt;div&gt;Sienna George is a junior at Boise State University where she is pursuing a degree in Communication and a minor in Sociology while also working as the Creative Marketing Specialist for The College of Innovation + Design, serving as a Student Assembly member for the Associated Students of Boise State University, creating instituionalized programing for all first year students regarding sexual assault prevention and consent, spending time with her Alpha Xi Delta sorority sisters, and launching a business venture to teach empathy and compassion to high school students. After facing countless board rooms filled with adults who doubted her and her friends' ability to create change as high school students, Sienna spent 1,5000 hours serving as a board member for the student-run nonprofit, One Stone, where she and her peers led human-centered and design-thinking-inspired service projects. As a senior in high school, Sienna founded Brave Empowerment Network-- a collaboration between student leaders to promote and encourage the practice of character values. Today, Sienna continues to love the transformative power of compassion, leading Kind Weeks for local high schools. In her free time, Sienna enjoys challenging the perceptions held by older generations about millennials, mobilizing action through meaningful discussion (some of which include passionate debates about the finest Ben &amp;amp; Jerry's ice cream flavors, the best camping spots in Idaho, and the greatest autobiographies ever written), engaging in conversations about ethics, social justice, human rights, and poetry, writing absurdly long Instagram captions (#sorrynotsorry), inspiring change in higher education through empathy, and making the world a better place through acts of kind. Sienna often finds herself dreaming about attending law school to become an advocate for others, starting her own not-for-profit high school to help students recognize their potential and purpose, combating poverty, writing for TIME and/or filming a documentary, sharing Oreos with The Dalai Lama, Oprah and Jedidiah Jenkins, and traveling to every continent.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>

		<summary type="html">&lt;p&gt;Alexanderschloss: Those who have a 'why' to live, can bear with almost any 'how'. - Viktor Frankl&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;hr /&gt;
&lt;div&gt;Alexander is a Master of Social Work student at Boise State University. This past summer, he finished his graduate placement with St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. This year (his final year of graduate school), he will work with the veteran community at the Boise VA Medical Center. Before attending Boise State University, Alexander worked with students on the Autism Spectrum for a year and a half. Afterwards, he lived in Japan for four years, teaching English to junior high school students in one of Japan's smallest cities. Despite his short time there, he has continued to develop numerous lifelong relationships with teachers, students and members of the community. Currently, one of Alexander's passions is his research into cutting edge therapeutic interventions that use emerging technologies to treat PTSD. He is also interested in working with schools to develop support systems that can effectively increase retention of gifted students and is working with other students to develop a set of guidelines for the growth of Boise State University's makerspace culture. When he is not studying, Alexander can be found playing with his Corgi, studying Japanese, reading Science Fiction or playing video games with his wife.
