Ruby Karimjee is an undergraduate student majoring in Bioengineering on the Biomolecular Track at Santa Clara University. She was born and raised in Santa Clara, where she loved growing up and decided to continue her education. Ruby became interested in engineering through being on a Robotics team in high school, but she also enjoyed being in the laboratory and all of her science classes, leading to her choosing to pursue Bioengineering. This interest in STEM only grew stronger when she joined the professional engineering fraternity, Theta Tau, at SCU.

Though she is only a sophomore, she has tried to get involved with the many opportunities on campus. Her passion for social justice is satisfied by the many programs offered by the Santa Clara Community Action Program, and her interest in sustainability motivated her to lead her school’s chapter of Net Impact, a nonprofit organization that uses business skills to support societal/environmental causes. Seeing that she could make an impact on the SCU community motivated her desire to become a UIF fellow, where she could make change happen with brilliant minds.
