K L University (officially the Koneru Lakshmiah Education Foundation) is a private university at Vaddeswaram near Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India. Originally established as K L College of Engineering in 1985, it was upgraded to a university in 2009. With over 6 schools, 11 academic departments and 16,000 students in a serene and lush green 100 acre campus, K L University offers an enriching learning experience.

K L University is consistently ranked as the best university in all of Andhra Pradesh and as one of the top 10 private universities in India. It has robust infrastructural facilities and a budding entrepreneurship cell.

Priorities 2019


Taking forward the legacy of KLU's last two cohort's along with our own initiatives the following are the Priorities of UIF Cohort 2019


  1. To make all the students industry and proper restructuring of departmental connections
  1. To introduce eSports culture into campus and professionally attend tournaments representing KL
  1. To provide the students with a good platform to work on projects that they are interested in
  1. Identifying the essential necessities of the Technology Clubs and events conducted by them in the University and forming a centralized monitoring and supportive body which helps them in functioning effectively. 
  1. To create opportunity, instill confidence, ensure social justice and to make students learn about core business areas and broader ranging skills such as adaptability, effective communication. and confidence through entrepreneurship course.

Statement


To induce a platform where students are availed the opportunity to work on different technologies irrespective of their streams which also enhances effective association within various departments in the University. 

Solutions


  1. Inter Department Connect is a program in which the students will have an opportunity to learn and work on their interested and realistic projects and problems on upcoming and trending technologies whatever the branch (s)he may be. This way students from different domains can work collaboratively on a project irrespective of the technical backgrounds.

Statement


To introduce eSports culture into campus and let studetns professionally attend tournaments representing KL

Solutions


  1. Formation of a KL eSports club for bringing along students with similar interests 
  2. Providing a common area where every member of the gaming club can come and play with each other to improve their gameplay .
  3. Formation of a club for bringing along students with similar interests & providing some basic gaming hardware to support everyone's interest.
  4. Training them in eSports ready titles and bring out a team to represent KL in tournaments

To provide the students with a good platform to work on projects that they are interested in


Solutions


  1. Introduce Inter Disciplinary Connect where students will have an opportunity to learn and work on the projects that they are interested ,such as problems on upcoming and trending technologies whatever the branch they may be.
  2. Designing fixed outcomes and strategically planning the project roadmap inculcates lifelong transferable skills in the students.

Identifying the essential necessities of the Technology Clubs and events conducted by them in the University and forming a centralized monitoring and supportive body which helps them in functioning effectively. 


Solutions


  1.  Formation of CSKL : CSKL - Consortium of Students at K L University. This body oversees all the operations of the Technology Clubs. This body comprises of an Executive Committee, Undergrad Senate and Office Bearers. The members of the body are nominated rather being elected. The Executive Committee consists of representatives from bodies, schools,cells further the committee nominates the Senate members.This way the functionaries of the body keep a tab on each other which results in effective administration of the technology Clubs.

Solutions


  1. Entrepreneurship is a specialized course for students. Students may wish to add this minor to strengthen their educational preparation for successful careers


  1. Making students reach out to professors who have experience working with/advising startups


  1. Making interested students explore startup communities around the college.


  1. Running entrepreneurship talks and events by successful startups on and around campus


  1. Picking a local problem on and around the college and ideating for new start-ups to solve them.

Taking forward the legacy of KLU's Debut cohort along with our own initiatives the following are the Priorities of UIF Cohort 2018

   1. To streamline the student bodies and activities in the university and activate the dormant clubs with less proper direction and leadership.

   2. To indulge Peer to Peer Learning Methodologies in all the resources available at the Campus which gives the joy of learning together.

   3. To introduce new Technology clubs in the campus which are on par with the Industry 4.0 and lead to frequent and potential outcomes.

   4. To increase the Student contribution towards the University Initiatives and bringing awareness on exploring and utilizing the existing facilities.

Statement

To streamline the student bodies and activities in the university and activate the dormant clubs with less proper direction and leadership.


Solutions

   1. Providing a common platform where every member of the student council can share and discuss their grievances, can promote and support each other. 

   2. Centralized Clubs -Identifying the basic necessities of the clubs and events in the university and having centralized support systems for all of them o that the student bodies can avail better facilities.

   3. Student Senate - Organizing frequent meetups and brainstorming sessions which stimulates inspiration, responsibility, team building and fosters spirits among the student leaders.

   4. Introducing the university mascot and merchandise which helps in attaining the sense of unity and collaborative leadership.

   5. Designing fixed outcomes and strategically planning the events inculcates lifelong transferable skills in the students.

Statement

To indulge Peer to Peer Learning Methodologies in all the resources available at the Campus which gives the joy of learning together.

Solutions

 1. By designing Peer Learning Methodologies that are interdisciplinary and involves students of cross-age groups, different ethnicities and active - slow learners.

   2. By devising the peer learning methodologies based on the following aspects:

  •  Sustainable
  • Institutionalize
  • Measurable
  • Scalable
  • Rewardable                  

   3. Integrating it into one of the major parts of academics increases its efficiency.

Statement

To introduce new Technology clubs in the campus which are on par with the Industry 4.0 and lead to frequent and potential outcomes.


Solutions

We believe technology is not only sciences and math but something beyond. With the same spirits the following 9 Technology clubs are to be introduced :

  1. Cybersecurity& Ethical Hacking Club
  2. Developers Club
  3. Drone development Club
  4. Gaming Club
  5. Data Science Club
  6. Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Club
  7. Orators Hub
  8. Designing Club
  9. Ideation Club

All these clubs are designed and developed with fixed objectives, frequent sessions and assignments,  proper industry & alumni connect and professional body associations.

Statement

To increase the Student contribution towards the University Initiatives and bringing awareness on utilizing the existing facilities.


Solutions

 1. KL Welcome Week -A series of interactive and introductory sessions designed for the Freshman Engineering Department students, which introduces them to the University.

   2. A common Resource Portal which brings together all the resources in an efficient way, thereby providing an opportunity for the students to know, explore, learn, ideate, share, discuss and grow.


Priorities Fall 2017 (Debut cohort)

  1. How might we inculcate the entrepreneurial mindset from the first year itself and introduce more academic courses catering to innovation and entrepreneurship?
  2. How might we streamline the student bodies and activities in the university and activate the dormant clubs with less proper direction and leadership?
  3. How might we Increase the awareness about the facilities and resources currently available at the University?
  4. How might we increase awareness of trends in technology to students earlier so that they are able to learn in an effective/efficient manner?
  5. Design an Innovation Studio in the campus to foster innovative design and facilitate rapid prototyping.

Statement

How might we inculcate the entrepreneurial mindset from the first year itself and introduce more academic courses catering to innovation and entrepreneurship?

Solutions

  1. Student developed and led online courses that talk about topics not covered in academics.
  2. I & E talk series: A series of monthly/bi-weekly talks by seasoned entrepreneurs of the state/city via online webinars.
  3. Inspire Hour - A hour of TED talks/movies followed by discussions after working hours conducted weekly to inspire the students.
  4. Rural Internships and field trips integrated into academics to inculcate practical and innovative thinking.
  5. Innovation Grants/Awards: A series of awards and rewards given at the end of each semester for various topics like Most Innovative Paper, Most Innovative Project etc.

How might we streamline the student bodies and activities in the university and activate the dormant clubs with less proper direction and leadership?

Solutions

  1. Proper resource sharing between the groups so that the resource usage is increased and the student bodies have access to better facilities than they have.
  2. Club merchandising which not only stimulates college spirit but also a sense of responsibility.
  3. Make sure that students develop life-long transferable skills.
  4. Mapping branch-wise opportunities of student activities and ensuring no collision.
  5. Encouraging student bodies to have team building activities and brainstorming sessions to attain the sense of team and leadership.
  6. Student Council: Introduce an ombudsman student council to regulate and oversee the plethora of student activity bodies in the university. Introduce Student Innovation Council as one of the branches of this council.

Statement

How might we Increase the awareness about the facilities and resources currently available at the University?

Solutions

  1. Awareness Sessions - Seniors conduct these sessions on existing facilities and resources that are present in the university.
  2. Auditory Course - A course with a series of videos which truly introduce the student to the university on a personal and professional level. Any opportunities that need to be grabbed and complex situations that freshmen may face will be addressed here.
  3. Amalgamate the resources provided by the university and government and present them in an efficient way.
  4. KLU Innovation Fellows: Internal students who will be acting as point of contact (POC) for all the resources available in the university.

How might we increase awareness of trends in technology to students earlier so that they are able to learn in an effective/efficient manner?

Solutions

  1. KLU Hackathon - Introduce monthly theme-based hackathons to inculcate the feeling of building things faster and prototyping.
  2. Webinars on latest technologies: Conducting webinars and short talks on emerging trends by featured students/ alumni/industry professionals.
  3. PiedPiper(A Tech Magazine) - Summarizes the latest trends in technology. Programming languages and software that need to be learnt.
