Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC)
The Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC) is a global competition that provides students with mentoring, exposure, and cash prizes to address the world’s challenges. Teams from across the globe learn how to design scalable models through a process that emphasizes stakeholder discovery, business innovation, and social impact assessment.
GSVC was founded by MBA students from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business in 1999. The competition is a global network of universities, and by 2017, GSVC had received over 600 entries from 65 countries.
The competition consists of three rounds: Round 1, Regional Round, and Global Finals. Each round requires entrants to present the social, financial, and environmental values of their businesses.
GSVC entrants are evaluated in three equally weighted areas: Business Potential, Social Impact Potential, and Likelihood of Success. Details of the criteria are listed below:
